Did I miss something a while ago? I haven't looked at AT&T's site for a LONG time for upgrading. I have always gone ebay for that. Today I looked. For a 2 year contract price of a Samsung Impression (for the wife) the premiere site wanted $125 bucks.

Regular site only wanted $75, they give a mail in rebate.

Why is this set up like that? Seems it should be the opposite.

Yep...after mail in rebate. The premier site does not offer a rebate. Just $125 plain old bucks.

It may just depend on the model you are interested in - there may be models where the FAN upgrade price is at least as good as the price for "regular" customer upgrades, and there may also be special "deals" on specific models that are offered only to FAN accounts.

Quite awhile back though, I did suddenly notice a large number of users stating that they could not upgrade for the same price as a "new" customer; turns out that those who were complaining were all on Premier accounts, and at least at that time the regular upgrade price was the same as that for a new customer - so I think at least generally speaking, the Premier upgrade pricing is not as good as those for the regular customers. :( (Of course my perception of this being "generally" true may be off as well - as it could be that most of the users I saw complaining were interested in only a small number of available models. ;))

But then, it's not really a discount then. Is it? It's just shifting the price.
