AT&T Expands Retail Presence in Upstate New York With New Pittsford Location
Friday April 13, 9:27 am ET

ROCHESTER, N.Y., April 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T - News) announced today that Cingular, now AT&T, has expanded its retail presence in the Rochester area with a new store location in Pittsford in the Inspirations Designs Building on 3122 Monroe Avenue.
"We are pleased to be able to enhance our service to the Rochester community with our new store in Pittsford. In addition to this new location, we have also made a significant investment to enhance and expand wireless coverage in the area," said Bruce Saunders, director of sales for AT&T's wireless operations in western New York. "In fact, AT&T added eight new cell sites in the Rochester area last year, providing enhanced cellular coverage for Monroe, Ontario and Orleans Counties.

Over the last two years, the company has invested more than $180 million in its upstate New York wireless network.

This new retail location will offer a full range of wireless products and services, including the most advanced handsets, technology and accessories such as:

Mobile Music. AT&T offers a wide array of music phones that allow customers to sideload their music from Yahoo!®, Napster or iTunes. And, for a limited time, customers can get a free 12-month subscription to Napster when they purchase a Samsung SyncTM or BlackJack(TM) handset and subscribe to an unlimited MEdia Net package.

Customers can also listen to XM Satellite Radio on wireless phones, Bluetooth headphones and Bluetooth external speakers and also transfer personalized music content via laptop or mobile phone with phones like the SyncTM or the LG CU500.

Laptop Mobility, E-Mail and Data. Geared toward road warriors, on-the-go customers, and small business owners, part of the store will include wireless phones and PDAs -- the ultrasleek BlackBerry® 8800, Smartphones, GPS and Bluetooth accessories.

With the addition of the Pittsford store, AT&T now operates eight company-owned locations in the greater Rochester area. The new store, which will have six employees, will be led by store manager Matt Coulombe. The company is a proud member of the Pittsford Chamber of Commerce.

As part of the grand-opening celebrations from Friday, April 13, through Sunday, April 15, the public is invited to stop by for special grand-opening deals and product giveaways, a free second-generation Motorola RAZR after a mail-in-rebate and free activation on two-year contracts.

The store is a few blocks from me. Its nice and new but its just another Cingular store, nothing really special about it.

Now if they could do something about the deadspot about a mile down the road, then thats something worth putting out a press release about.

T-Mobile should start using their new Spectrum,
since they're only have 20 MHz of 1900MHz.
T-Mobile shoul Not have given Cing
    the other 20 Mhz.

Jones that happened in NYC! Rochester is upstate NY, and t-mo needs to add more towers to be competitive with Cingular, they dont have capacity issues. Nonetheless, im agreeing with yankees in where is this going

No :censored: jones, the cingular signal is strong at the store, but due to the landscape a mile down the road there is a dead spot. Regardless of whether you have 1900 or 850 it isnt going to help you if the tower isnt in the right spot to overcome the landscape. VzW has got a cell site at the top so sprint is set. cingular and t-mobile have nothing there so gsm sucks in that area

    Maybe T-Mobile Does,

Is it because of the Mets?
Petit will be playing so maybe they be Champs again.

    Building penetration for 1900 MHz
is weak not like 850 Mhz.

I know that jones is banned, but I am replying anyway.
VZW does the same thing. All the carriers do this. That is
how they get you to subscribe to their service.

Walk in to any carriers store and you have full bars.

Maybe in a shopping mall, but I've been in plenty of wireless stores in which a few of the carriers would only have one bar on their phones that are on display. The carriers that do have full signal strength may have repeaters installed that their potential customers simply are not aware of.

In all of the Corp. Stores I have been to I have had full signal and so have the working display models.

If they have one bar on the display phones they're fools. Almost every carriers corporate stores here have repeaters installed for that very reason. Much easier to sell the phone when it actually works...

I second that, but this tower is a block away from the shopping center where the cingular store is. Full bars for all. :D

If that tower is a block away from a Corp. Cingular store, I'll eat both of my Cingular phones and my VZW phone. That tower is right behind Jiffy Lube. The Cingular store you mention is a reseller. The Corp. Store is accross from Wegmans -A locally owned brocery store for our readers not familiar with Rochester, NY

How can that store be a reseller, it says it right here at 3122 monroe ave. The tower is at the corner of I-590 and monroe, not too far away.

Are you talking about the store at Brighton Commons or the one accross from Wegmans? If the one at Brighton Commons, that is a reseller. If the one accross from Wegmans, then it is my mistake. For which I humbly appologize.

EDIT: Just went back to jones original post. I re-read that and find that I am wrong. The store that is mentioned in that post is the one accross from Wegmans. The store that I am thinking of is located in Brighton Commons. That store is a reseller. True, both are not all that far from the Mono Pole at the corner of Monroe Ave. and I-590.
