AT&T Alpha Tag on Cingular 5120??

I recently traveled into the New York Metro region and was surprized to see the "AT&T" alpha-tag on my Cingular Wireless handset. This alpha tag complemented the "Triangular" blinking roaming icon which the '20 series phones have in place. How come Cingular Roam didn't come up??

The 5120 alphatag depends on what the carrier is broadcasting. In NYC, Cingular uses AT&T for TDMA service. The newer models override the alphatag broadcasted and display what is programmed in the phone instead.
