I picked up an iPhone on Sunday and the guy in front of me said the Macon/Middle GA area should have 3G by Christmas. Anyone heard anything to substantiate that? I can't believe we'd be too far behind Columbus!

which store did you pick it up at btw? on riverside or eisenhower?

ive heard a similar time frame...

columbus and savannah just happened so logically macon is next. but its also possible that Waycross/Albany get it around the same time...hard to say...everything is tentative and even if someone says "by christmas, dont be suprised if it would be next spring...it will vary off of Budget available, demand, etc.

I picked mine up at the mall kiosk. I didn't check Riverside since its too far, but Eisenhower and Warner Robins both said they didn't get any for Saturday or Sunday. The mall kiosk got 20 Friday and then 2 on Sunday.

This was the first I'd heard about Macon getting 3G.

its TBD. like i said its hard to say what will happen...i honestly i think that the EDGE there needs some work...its not bad, but could be better...

Then again, ive noticed that 3G improves coverage in an area of EDGE anyhow so maybe it would help...something about 3G, its more stable at lower dbm voice wise and even at 1bar still provides 600kb+...yea..if your there your gonna want it ;)

...if you want to call 25x the bandwidth of GSM and simulatnious connections to 3 towers magic...then yes, I'll agree to that ;)
