Okay, so I've been salivating over the V600 now that my company has lifted its ban on camera phones in the areas in which I would use them... but then I saw this... which is supposed to be out 4Q 2004.

    WANT! WANT WANT WANT!

Now do I wait and get the Razr? Or do I get the V600?

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.

    Thoughts?

I say wait for the v635 an update of the v600 which will include EDGE. Stylistically, I don't like the Razr but that's just my esthetic opinion.

Sure the RAZR is extremely cool, but do you really want to spend $800 on a phone that you're going to be extremely carefull with? I'm just going to get a V620 or V635 :).

Yeah even the extra looks cost $$$. I prefer to compare features on a phone rather than buy simply of how a phone looks.

Be careful if you bend it! The Razr is paper thin! ;)

I've never heard of a V635  Where did you hear about it? I've only heard of the V620 and V551.

Since I don't use data on my phone, waiting for EDGE would be silly, unless there are other improvements??

Rich posted a sentence about the V635 here (middle of the page):

    http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/moto_2004_07/index.php?p=i

Apparently the V635 will have a styling update to the V600 and V620 with EDGE.

Yeah, basically a Moto exec let it slip. I don't know if I want EDGE either at this point, since I'm not even with a GSM carrier although I will be in about a year. I just want to be able to surf the web from my phone with little to no lag time.

Not to mention that T-Mobile has no EDGE, so waiting for a phone capable of EDGE would seem silly.

I also agree with rancid in that I don't really like the look of the Razr. I'm pretty happy with my V600.

I ordered the V600. It should be here sometime before, say, October.

Wow, 8 weeks for the V600? Are the supplies so low right now?

No, I was just being facetious. It's supposed to be here by Tuesday... and Circuit City has the Motorola HS810 Bluetooth headset for $30 off (so $70 instead of $100)!

T-Mobile... but it took a very long time, because the stores won't allow you to buy them in the upgrade program, they tell you to call customer care. Customer care will put the cost on your bill -- which, when you submit your bill to a very large Accounts Payable department whose job it is to look for any reason not to give out the company's money, is a bad thing.

I wanted to pay for it with a credit card but in the end I was defeated, I ended up making the payment to my account using my credit card and I'm just resigned to two hours of argument with the accounting trolls in the basement.

It also took nine people and one of those nine people was so rude that I was very close to porting away just based on his attitude. I'm in the process of composing a letter to Customer Relations. So bad was his behaviour that we ended up with a free month of service -- and we don't have cheap plans.

Excellent! The battery indicator sucks...on the charge up and discharge. So it will be charging at one bar forever then suddenly up to 2 then 3. Just like it will stay on three bars forever during use then suddenly 2-1-0.

That's a 'misfeature' of every Moto I've ever used.

So far, I love it. They've really done some usability work on these phones since my P280... the screen is totally, completely legible, there are enough keys that all the things I want one-touch for can have one-touch...

...and they FINALLY, FINALLY got the idea from Nokia that people like to be able to switch to vibe and silent with one button.

    var $deity;
    alert('Thank you, ' + $deity + '!')

Also, the AIM client works really, really well. Unfortunately I prefer T9 to iTAP but I'll get used to it.

Yep I love my V525 as well. I still have to get it unlocked and a German charger so I can use it here with E-Plus.

Yeah, you'd think they'd correct it. THe v60, 270c, and StarTAC I used all did it too. Oh well, it's not so bad since you know what to expect. The hardest thing for me was re-learning the 'talk' and 'end' keys after more than 15 months away from Motorola.

Do you have unlimited SMS? I am already way over 1000 texts 10 days into my billing cycle thanks to that AIM client.

I have 300 texts a month... frankly when I use my phone I am either at a computer which runs Trillian Pro, or I'm in the car when I shouldn't be txting anyway.

I did get unlimited t-zones for $4.99 a month though... as soon as it's active, look for me to be posting wirelessly here!

Once you learn iTAP on the V600, you won't wanna go back to T9. Trust me on that one! :D

One thing I did notice is that when my phone doesn't want to charge, the problem is in the connector of the home charger. It looks like the pins are not long enough to make good contact with the phone. Whenever I plug in the car charger I never have a problem, so the problem charging may turn out to be the charger connector after all, and not the phone as most people claim. When the phone refuses to charge, I just wiggle the connector a bit and it starts charging.

Ahhhhh! You shall feel the pain of my scornful words! Your v600 and HS810 will be NO MATCH for my v710 and HS820 in glossy black... your headset has no color-changing abilities and for that you will feel the shame of having a headset which does not match your phone, for those with unmatched headsets always feel the most horrid of shame. You will cry yourself to sleep as you realize that your coverage footprint is far inferior to mine and you will shudder when you think of my megapixel camera and devious video-capturing abilities... but for now I'm content with my Timeport P8090. TDMA, baby! (Not really, if you can't tell, I'm jealous of your new Moto and your Bluetooth... and I've watched too many episodes of The Powerpuff Girls, oh how I love that Mojo Jojo!)
