I need wireless service for n. Cal. for very limited usage while traveling between Tahoe and Bay area. Are service plans offered which offer "pay per call only" service, i.e., no monthly charge? If so, how can I find out more about the service.
PrePaid is a service without monthly charge. The minutes you use are deducted from a pool of minutes that you buy in advance. One downside of such plans is that if you don't use or renew the minutes within a certain period, you loose them. Each carrier has a trademarked name for prepaid. ATT has "Free2Go," while Verizon has "FreeUP." In this case, you must pay for the phone in advance (usually more expensive).
