I guess former Alltel customers, that were converted to Verizon are considered second class customers. I just got off the phone with Verizon customer service. The reason for the call is that I have been receiving obnoxious calls that I want to block.I am on the Do Not Call Registry but no one seems to pay attention to it. So, in going to that (block number) function in My Verizon, it says I am ineligible for that service. So the call to Verizon. Verizon customer service tells me that since I did not have that feature enabled when I was with Alltel it is now not possible for them to add it to my account. They said that I would have to get a new account and new phone number (which would totally change my plan and pricing). That is an absolute non starter and sounds like a bunch of horse manure to me. I am currently finished with my latest two year contract and am on month to month. I spoke with two different reps about this and the last one who commiserated and said she wished she could fix the problem but couldn't and at least suggested that I talk to a manager, but I had no time left to do so at that time. Anyone have any thing like this happen? Any advice or suggestions appreciated. Thanks Web
Vote with your feet. If you are not getting the kind of service you want, go to a different carrier. Since you are out of contract, you will have no cancellation costs to port to a different carrier. If Altel is the only carrier that services you coverage needs then you are stuck.
I feel your pain. I have felt the same way. I think they do things like that because they want as many people as possible off Alltel plans. I just renewed. I didn't want to, but I really had no choice. I kept my Alltel plan and did not buy a 9.99 data required phone. I have to agree, I REALLY miss Alltel service.
If you still have your Alltel plan you are not able to use call and text blocking; only VZW native plans are eligible for this. Of course, to have a VZW plan, you will also need to have a VZW branded phone.
