Sure I can, I don't have to rely on an iDevice to deliver the news :p

Done! 7.1 downloaded and installed. Less than 300 Mb.

Some say it is faster opening up apps and so on. I would agree with that.

So far fingerprints sensing is better as well.

Downloading 7.1 on my iPad Air now. Will load it on my 5S once my T-Mobile sim finishes activating. Sure hope this update fixes my crash issues or I will be selling my iPad Air and getting a Galaxy Tab in its place.

Finally done downloading on my Air and 5S. Fingers are crossed that I won't have any more crash issues. On a side note. I hate the new white keyboard. Apple, bring back the dark one!

Ok done updating both iPhone 5 and iPad Air. Haven't noticed much performance difference on the 5 but the Air appears to smoother switching between apps.

Now if the Springboard stops crashing and rebooting I will be happy :)

A video showing the changes in iOS 7.1. The Darken Colors and Reduce White Point are interesting. They are located a bit differently between iPhone 5 and 5S

BTW, the Touch ID is working perfectly for me now. It will be interesting to learn if Charlyee and Eileen have reduced crashes on their devices.

However, it does not cover all the additions, nor the bug fixes. The Apple page address those.

I am hopeful here, at present I have 13 apps open and the iPad hasn't crashed or rebooted, keeping my fingers crossed.

Are you seeing any changes to the battery life?

PS: Blogpress is crashing as soon as I open it on my iPad Air, but it's not on the iPhone. Very weird. The app was just upgraded today.

Too soon to say anything serious about battery life. But with the upgrade coming in at half day yesterday, I'd say nothing has changed so far.

I guess I have 120 apps 'open'. No crashes.

Lol Eileen, I like the white keyboard over the dark one.

No crashes on my iPad Air so far and I have consciously made an effort not to close out any apps. Keeping my fingers crossed.

How has your experience been so far?

Of course it is a bit early to tell.

My normal Usage Time on 7.0 and 7.0.x has been 8 hours, based on measured hours and projecting the Usage Time by calculating: Usage time/ (1- %remaining).

So right now I calculate on 7.1:

Usage time is 3 hours (2 hr 56 min). % battery remaining is 70%

    Therefore: 3 hours / (1- 0.7) = 3/ 0.3 = 10 hours.

so my battery life is better on 7.1

The keyboard was the first thing I noticed after the update. *sigh* I guess I'll learn to live with it. Of all the changes they could have made to the keyboard, Apple choose to take away the option to change between a Black and White keyboard! What they should of done was add a Swipe feature to the keyboard. Now that I've primarily been using that feature on my Note 3, my fingers keep trying to swipe the keyboard on my iPad Air too, lol. [IMG]

One other change that I noticed was the Slide to power off icon has changed a little. Also, the speed on my iPad Air seems faster and more responsive to me now. Much like iOS 6 was after it had it's first major update. I think it is still too early to tell whether this update actually did fix my crash issue with Safari and a few other Apps, but so far after day one with iOS 7.1 there hasn't been any crashes. I've opened up many tabs like you did Charlyee in order to test this too...

So what are people using from the new accessibility options?

I have the button shapes and darken colors turned on.

Mine had taken a dive after 7 to around 8 hours, doing the calc now it comes up with 10.5 hours so if I factor in the non linearity I would say it would be around 9.5 - 10 hours. That's much improved over 7 but not as good as iOS 6

I haven't made any changes in the accessibility option section yet. I looked but that's about it.

I find the battery meter to be too non linear to do a good prediction. At 67% it calculated to 10,5 % as I mentioned but now at 38% it is calculating to 9.6 %. Typically the battery depletes at a much faster rate below 50% for me.

I plan to completely drain the battery this charge cycle so I will get an actual reading.

I like the button shapes option, the darken colors is a very subtle change but appears to make the font more crisp.

I'm at 50% with 5 hours of usage. So still 10 hours.

I don't care about the keyboard colors. It changes with each app, non of which bothers me at all.

I guess it would get a minute or two before it shuts off but this is much better than what I was getting with the earlier versions of iOS 7 and of course I have been playing with it a lot trying out the new features.

I have not closed out any app on either device and no problems.

At 9 hrs and 23 mins now.

It's funny but in the past I used to be so concerned with the battery life that I received with each new update that I would totally overlook the new features that the update brought with it. So far my battery life seems the same on my iPad Air 12 to 14 hours depending on if I'm watching a lot of Netflix over WiFi or LTE.

I don't use my iPhone 5S anymore but I think the battery life will probably be the same.

What do you mean? its less than 9 hrs 30 min, so almost 10 hrs. If it was 9 hrs 35min, then it was 10 hours, rounded off.

    JK, of course.

I didn't let it run to zero. I generally don't like doing that. It seemed pretty certain that my battery life is pretty good.

No iPad Air Springboard crash or reboots yet. I haven't manually closed out any apps except BlogPress since the update.

It is beginning to sound hopeful :)

I was just thinking of asking that question to those that were having crashes with the A7 chip and iOS 7.

Good news! Glad that I was wrong and that it appears to be a software fix.

I am glad that you were wrong as well. :D

I never had any doubts that it wasn't a hardware problem since it was across multiple devices and time frames. :)

Also I got 11 hrs and 3 mins on my iPhone with second charge after the update, so definite improvement and quite close to pre iOS 7 days.

PS: I have never bothered about the battery life on the iPad, it has always been great upwards of 14 hours, but after the upgrade and with the first full charge this is what it shows.

I believe that's 27.4 hours, will be interesting to see if I really get that high.
