By new, I mean different. I am using a 2 year old a900. As far as I can tell, nothing out there really is that different. Sure, the DLX and 610 have better cameras and SD support. I really don't need SD card support until there is a decent music player on a phone (hint, even the ROKR and Sony Ericsson regular models are way way better than all Sprint phones in that regard). I mean, it's sad that Sprint (and almost all carriers) can barely beat an almost 2 year old design. I'd like to be able to surf the web, or do anything while listening to music like even old Sony or Motorola's can do. I really wish Sony would make CDMA phones again, I loved my z710i. Just curious. I am pretty happy with this old thing. MUCH better than my red v3m.
To be honest with you the DLX is and has been a great phone so far and the music quality sounds great. That is my two cents.
For 300ish dollars, it isn't that much of an upgrade. For $300, I could get a wonderful SE GSM phone, with way more phone-based features. Of course Sprint is still going to have the cool free radio stations and other media content.
Let See we have in the immedate future: Regular Handset (These should all be launched intime for back to school time-frame): M520: Samsung Slider EVDO Razr 2: Moto EVDO Rokr z6m: Moto Slider EVDO IC602: Moto Hybrid / PTT / 1xrtt Lx 375: LG Slider/QWERTY (speculation to either Evdo or 1x) Lx 160: Entry Level 150 Upgrade (1x) S1: M1 Style Candybar (Evdo) Smartphones (These should all be out by X-mas): BB 8130: Peal 2 (Rumored) BB8330: Curve (Rumored) Treo 800w: WM6 upgrade of the 700wx, supposed with more multimedia offerings (Confirmed) Treo 550 Gandolf: WM6 Smartphone (Basically a Treo answer to the Q an Blackjack). HTC Touch: CDMA Verision
This looks like a really nice list. I am going to have a hard choice picking out a new phone. The Treo 550, HTC Touch, and a Pearl 2 would all have a good home in my pocket. I am finally going to get rid of my iPAQ. I can't wait to see these phones added to Sprint's lineup. Thanks for getting these lists lenny and RJB. It is great to see Sprint has some cool devices coming out soon.
