Just curious if anyone over here has the slvr? How do you like it? I am thinking of switching to Cingular to get this phone.

Aje, my first Razr was a silver one, i thought the silver version was great, until they released the black one of course...;) the advantage with the silver version is that you can't really see fingerprints on it as much as the black version, and it should be cheaper now as well.

I think he meant the Sliver (Slvr) not the silver razor. But I do agree with Tony regarding the silver razor. The silver does not show the finger prints and seems to stay "cleaner" than my black one does.

I did switch to Cingular to get this phone and I have to say it is the best phone I've ever had.

A friend of mine has been using the SLVR for months now and loves it. He hated candy bar phones but this phone was so solid a performer it won him over. I played around with it last year and was impressed.

I have a feeling I am going to be the same way. I have always not liked candy bar phones, but for some reason I want the slvr. I am just trying to get a good deal on it. It is amazing how "sales" associates won't come down on price. I am willing to switch to Cingular, and they won't budge on price. They will make a lot more money off my monthly fees than they will off the $50-$75 I am trying to save on the phone.

The local cell phone shop where i buy phones from gave me a price of $265 for the SLVR, i think that's pretty good considering it's w/o a contract.

That's not too bad without contract. The local Cingular store I went to wanted $290 with a 1 year contract.

I've got the L6 SLVR, and it's not bad at all. Good RF, feels good in hand, but the only issue is the screen, which is 128x160, not 176x220. Provided I traded a V600 for the L6, I think it's not a bad phone.

Was it a corporate Cingular store or a reseller?

I ask this because my Cingular store, corporate, is selling the SLVR, no contract, $299. I checked other Cingular corporate stores and 611 also and that is the correct retail price.

I have checked corporate and authorized resellers, they all want about the same for the phone $200-$220 with a 2 year contract and $290-$299 with a 1 year contract. One store said it takes Cingular 9 months to recoup the cost of the phone because the phone cost them $500. I am not sure I believe that... So your saying when you called CS they said the phone was $299 with no contract? What zip code are you in?

11229. Did you call 611 and ask them directly what the retail price of the phone is?

If I purchase an unlocked slvr from ebay will I be able to use all of the features as if I purchased one directly from Cingular? I have read that pix messaging might not work or internet etc... Is this true?

Cool, thanks for the link Tony. Now I have to decide if I want itunes because the unlocked phones do not come with it. I know there is a 100 song limit but itunes, from my limited experience, is nice software. I am going to borrow my buddies ipod and play with it for a few days to decide if I really want an itunes version.

Good lord, $265! Why don't you have one of these yet, Tony E? You could sell both your RAZRs and come up with $265. I would almost consider the SLVR for $265.

On the Cingular Premier website, the SLVR is $199 with 2 year contract.

    So that's good without it!

Well, I think I am caving in

Talked to Cingular CS today and they are letting me take an early upgrade (a year early), so I can get the SLVR for $199.

I thought that was the hard part. Turns out that mostly all corporate stores in a 50 mile radius of Gotham are sold out. I found a store in Massapequa which is around 40 miles away from me, has them in stock, so I think I'll pick one up tomorrow.

I know it is going to be locked but that's not a problem, Cingular has always sent me the unlock codes for any phones I purchased from them.

When I first saw it I knew I would be tempted. I was right :)

By the way you are talking about this phone, I might have to consider it even though I have grown fond of the Clamshell vs Candybar.

Well, picked mine up today. Nobody had it in stock until this afternoon.

(In a Jerry Lewis voice): I like it, I like it, I like it :)

Another surprise. I paid $179 for it. I was told if I took the $9.99 media.net package they would give me an in-store $20 discount on the phone. So I took the package and I just got off the phone cancelling it (my bad)

Any questions about the phone just ask me, I'll try an answer.

    More to com . . . . . .

I love mine. I get my email on it plus it syncs with ical on my laptop via Bluetooth so I keep my calendar and address book updated and don't need to carry my Palm. Then there is itunes! With this phone you can combine 4 devices (Blackberry for email, Palm for PIM, itunes, cell phone) into one thin, slender device that slips into your shirt pocket. Did I mention it gets 6 1/2 hours talk time? The battery rocks on this phone!

Agrees with you even though I just have it 2 days.

    Loading iTunes playlist now.

I had no problems either using it with all the Moto tools I already have like MPT, all the P2K's, connects to PST, Motokit and all the OBEX options via BT Dongle.

So far I just had one problem. I had a bunch of Java games that I had on my 551/V3. I installed them via BT>OBEX Push, just needed the jar files to do so. When I tried to put some of them on the L7 the download went okay but the minute the d/l was over it wouldn't install it and gave me a "bad file" error even though the games worked on the 551 and V3.

Do the games have to be designed for the L7? Is that why they won't install?
I thought that because the L7 is 176x220 also there wouldn't be a problem.

    Any ideas?
