Its been a VERY long time since I have heard anything about the Kyocera phones that have been slated as coming soon since april/may. Does anyone have anything new on these phones (in particular the slider series, because thats the only one that really intrigues me)?
Well phonescoop just released the info on 2 of the new Kyocera phones, neither for Verizon. Does anyone know if any of these phones are planned to be released with Verizon?
If Phonescoop doesn't have it, then only somebody working pretty high up in Verizon or Kyocera would know.
not necessairly true. many phones are planned for release and woked on and publically known before they are on phonescoop, many also are not. phonescoop lists phones as they become approved by the FCC. for example, the motorola v600, althogh now featured on phonescoop as a special, it was not until a few days ago. it has been known for a long time the details of this phone, and that in the US Cingular would be carrying it. The NEC 515 is also another phone such as this one, everyone knew it was coming on ATT before phonescoop listed it. it really just depends, but sometimes you are right, no one knows half the time... as for the kyocera slider, i have heard of nothing for verizon. it is extremely unlikely that verizon will release that phone. but oyu never know..
Thanks, GoodmanR. I appreciate the info. I didn't know that everyone knew about the v600 before Phonescoop had it. I guess I just figured that the manufacturers and/or providers provided the info to Phonescoop since the data seemed so comprehensive. *sigh* Just my naïveté.
Don't know about new Kyocera models to the rest of the carriers, but it looks like Virgin Mobile has a new Kyocera model out. I saw it at Wal-mart today for about $78, which is $20 more than the Party Animal. At this Wal-mart the new phone took the spot formerly occupied by the Party Animal, but this doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to be a permanent replacement. The new model is called, I think, the K-7 Rave and it seems to be the Kyocera KE443 (or was that KE433?). It seems a bit smaller than the Party Animal and more oval shaped. The keys looked much smaller to me. Looks like this new model is already on Virgin Mobile's website and it seems to retail for $79. This does seem to imply that it will totally replace the Party Animal, but this is still just speculation. the HumpMan
Well, after further investigation, I'll make some more comments about the new Virgin Mobile K-7 Rave. I've confirmed that the Kyocera designation is the KE433 and it is part of their "Rave" line. Since Virgin Mobile is still selling the Party Animal (down to $59) alongside the Rave, it looks like it's not immediately a direct replacement, although it wouldn't surprise me if the Party Animal is phased out in the near future. The Super Model is already hard to find at retail stores now, even though it's still on the Virgin Mobile website. From what I have heard, that model seemed to have more problems than the Party Animal. Actually, now that I have seen that the Super Model is going for $79 on Virgin's site, it looks more and more that the K-7 Rave might be slated to replace the Super Model. The Rave has "polyphonic" ringtones and at least one cool feature-- a built in flashlight. The changable faceplates look much less expensive than the Party Animal-- Virgin's site has them at $6 each-- the ones ofr the Party Animal were like $19. The Rave has a neat sport clip that is built-in to a replacement battery cover. This looks like it might be a good alternative to those stick-on swivel belt-clips. However, this interesting clip seems only to be on Kyocera's site and not on Virgin's. the HumpMan
Well I don't know what else is coming down the pike, but Sigma did say earlier that there were at least a few new Virgin Mobile models due this year. Don't know if the slider model will be one or not. The Rave is looking better to me the more I study it. For a short while I almost thought that it was a color screen model, but that is the KE433c and the Virgin Mobile is the grayscale KE433, I think. But I did just see that the Rave has a scheduler now as well. The Virgin Mobile site doesn't have much ready info, unless you want to download the whole manual, but here's a link to the Kyocera site: Kyocera Rave Info the HumpMan
