My wife recently extended her contract in order to get a new phone as hers was acting stupid. She ended up getting the Hue as it showed the numbers nice & large when punching in a number. She hates it because it doesn't notify her of missed calls or new voice mails. My questions: 1.) Does it alert one to missed calls & new voice mails? 2.) Does it have a large display (I have a Razr if that'll help w/a comparison)? 3.) Does the keypad have large buttons? Are they rounded or flat (like my Razr)? 4.) Since it has a memory card slot, will it play MP3's or allow MP3's for ringtones? Thanks for the help!
1. Yes 2. Haven't seen a razr 3. It has soft buttons. Its not flat. 4. Yes it plays mp3's and I think it depends on your service provider if it will let you set ringtones.
Thanks for your reply. I don't think it's the service provider, though, that determines if one can use MP3z as ringtones, is it? The reason I say that is that I have a Razr through Alltel (V3c) & a Samsung Hue through Alltel. I can hook my Razr up to my Motorola Phone Tools program & move some MP3 ringtones I made into my phone where I can then associate them with people in my address book. With the Hue, I can move the same ringtones onto a MicroSD card (via Windows Explorer), put the card into the phone, but can only listen to them as MP3z and not associate them with my contacts. I was just wondering if I could do the same thing with an e815 that I can with my Razr & Motorola Phone Tools.
Some carriers lock out features like setting ringtones so you'll buy them from them. I have alltel and I think with the merger their going to start doing that like verizon does. As far as setting different tones for contacts, yes that can be done with the e815. I can make mp3's and transfer them to mine without a problem. I tried the newer version of mpt and it had the ringtones file blocked. So I put the old version back on my computer and viola it worked.
The e815 will let you assign assign ringtones from the MP3s or transfer ringtones/wallpapers via Bluetooth or by using MPT. It's pretty much open and unlocked as far as OBEX goes. Probably the best phone Alltel ever offered. Good signal and good sound quality. The software was a little buggy but what Motorola handset doesn't have buggy software?
