Howdy... Anyone have any update on when we're getting Q? I'm using the UTStarcom PocketPC and I'm desperate for a phone that doesn't weigh more than a gallon of milk. I'd probably even settle for the SLVR in the meantime if we're getting that first. I need the web, but I'd suffer without it to get rid of this brick in my pocket. Any updates would be greatly appreciated.
q has been pushed back (or forward...which ever way you look at it) to mid january ...what is wrong with these sick people
Aarrrrgghhh... I can't stand the thought of using this frigging concrete block another two months! I swear if I didn't have seven phones on contract with this company I'd be a cingular customer by lunch. Hell, I'd switch if I could get Cingular to eat the switch cost by giving me a $1,400 credit. That's two month's worth of bills and would even out what I'd have to pay Alltel. They wouldn't bite. I was even willing to buy the new phones. Arrrggghh...
Have you had a chance to play with/look at a Q? I have heard a lot of things where people have been unhappy with the device. Before getting your heart set on the Q, I would go by a VZW store and play with one. See if you like the navigation and menus on it.
I agree, between your 6700 and the Q you'll be losing alot of functionality. For one you'll lose the touch screen, for two majority of your apps that you installed on your PPC will not work on the Q since it's using the Smartphone version of WM5.
I'm going to miss the touchscreen, but the only thing I really use the phone for is receiving and responding to email, and getting on the web to approve orders that my employees have placed with vendors. I believe the Q will be sufficient for that, but if not I can always go back I guess. Just can't get what I want... everything.
At our (our meaning Midwest) we were told that we should be expecting it in Q4, meaning nov - jan, but on our sales sheets we haven't seen it on there yet... not even the ones with our newer motophones... so its up in the air... im really hoping its sooner then later! :-D
LonghornBob, I have had the Q for about 7 months, and I have to say that Windows Mobile 5 is wearing thin on me. For the e-mail and Internet, the Q is great, but the Windows menus leave something to be desired. The screen quality is fantastic. The Q could be better, but it's worth it (that is if Alltel ever gets it...).
Last I heard "officially," the Q was scheduled to come out for Alltel on Jan. 18th. But I have heard rumblings now of an "early February" release. I'm inclined to stick with the Jan. 18th date until I hear more than "rumblings." Maybe it's just wishful thinking.....
01/18/07 - Treo 700 P will be released The Q has been postponed until futher notice. There are too many software issues with it. The Krazr is suspended until a software fix can be made.
I have 8 company phones on Alltel and it's going to cost me $1,600 to switch, but I'm going to do it.
No you don't trust me, grass is not greener. I have the choice here and Vzw is not "most reliable" Alltel runs circles around them coverage wise. If you want less coverage and less flexibilty and spend more $$ every month just so you can have a fancy phone 9-11 months sooner...then go...dam. get some patience.
I know. You're right. I'm very impulsive. Cell phones are my crack. But could you please be a little more gentle??
Although it will be nice to have the Q, I have heard a lot of complaints with it. Hard to use, especially with the office software. It's not touch screen, low battery life and from some people sub par reception. Like a blackberry with confusing WM 5. From what I can tell the new Blackberry 8703e is just as good if not better.
You're going to pay $1,600.00, plus Verizon's activation fees and the cost of new Motorola Q's just because you want the Q as opposed to the PPC 6700? I'll admit, I love Motorola and I'm really excited about Alltel getting the Q but there's no way I'd do that. There's no way I'd pay over $1,800.00 just to have new phones... new phones that cost an additional $200 each over the $1,800.00.
The Verizon guy said he'd waive the activation, give my employees new phones, and I'll only have to pay for the Q. I'm just so sick of carrying around an ACME brick for a phone I can't stand it anymore. I might as well just walk around with a laptop. At this point, whatever it costs and whatever I have to do, I can't stand using this POS anymore. Every time I pick it up I get in a bad mood. And as far as being patient, I've been patient for about a year, and I keep getting told "wait a little longer, wait a little longer." Well, I've waited a little longer for longer than I should have...
If a few hundred extra dollars a month were able to empty my wallet I'd be worried about more than the phone I carry...
Typical Texan. Do you know how many starving children in Darfur you could feed if you just stayed with Alltel and sent the extra "few hundred" you won't miss to UNICEF? Don't you ever listen to Angelina Jolie? Shame on you....
