Another Nokia phone has apparently exploded in Hong Kong. Local TV channels showed the Nokia 3310 in pieces and a spokesperson for Nokia said that the company would investigate the cause of the explosion.

"I was just calling my boss to say I would be returning to work a few minutes late, and when I pressed the button to hang up, the phone was suddenly flying everywhere,'' the man told ATV.

"We've been in contact with the police. It's confirmed that it was a Nokia phone," the Nokia spokeswoman said. "We're trying to get hold of the product for technical testing. But as we haven't got hold of the product yet, we can't provide further information at the moment," she concluded.

There have been several reports of Nokia phones exploding over the past few months, although they have always been attributed to 3rd party supplied batteries.

The handset in this situation was apparently purchased as a second-hand phone

It will be interesting to see what they find, maybe a off brand name battery, or i remember somewhere people using tin foil in the phones to get better reception, if that or the sticker antenna boosters were the cause.

That's just nuts, let's hope that it wasn't an OEM battery since that could spell more trouble for Nokia.

I already have the V525 so if that happened to me, I would get an SE or a Samsung to try them out [IMG].

I have been hearing a lot of excellent things about the V600, and since i am only 4 months into my contract i will have to wait to get one[IMG] And something else came up i heard that the Moto has, you can select how often the phone looks for a signal, which my 6800 can take a couple of mins to find one once it loose's the signal. I like that feature big time, even though it can suck down you battery faster.

I've never had any reasons to worry about my Nokias, I trust the company. No product is ever 100% perfect or safe. Something could always go wrong so it's best to minimize any risk by using OEM accessories/parts.
