I have 2 Android phones, a HTC T-Mobile G1 with OS1.6, and a Motorola Milestone (Droid) with OS2.1. I notice that sometimes when I turn my phone on in the morning (yes, I turn it off at night) it doesn't find the cellular network, until I manually do a network search. It happens maybe 40-50% of the time on my G1 and maybe 10-20% of the time on my Milestone. Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me? If it was just one of my phones, I'd chalk it up as a fluke, but since it happens to me on 2 different Android phones, bought in different places, on different OS versions, and used on diferent networks, it makes me think it's a bug inherent to all Android OS's....
Not so with either of my Droids, my original Droid 1 and now the Droid X. Once they boot up within a couple of seconds they find the Verizon network and connect to it.
No issues here with my Vibrant & myTouch 3G. I did have similar issues with my Sprint TP2 when I used the GSM w/ my T-Mobile or AT&T SIM. Are your devices unlocked from a different carrier? My guess is that it's a SIM / carrier branded software issue.
....so nobody else has this problem but me? Uh, oh :O Maybe after working with RF for 15 years my hands became radioactive and are blocking the signal? ...but seriously, strange. My SIM cards are new (well, 1-2 years old) and they are on their home network, so I don't think that's the problem. Hmm. Maybe I had selected the network manually once before by clicking on the name (instead of pressing "Select Network Automatically"), but since theres no indication (ex: tick-box) showing if the network is manually or automatically selected, I'm not sure. I pressed the "Automatically Select Network" now and rebooted and it found the network after a minute or so. I'll have to see the next few days if it improves. ...but really, Android should have a tick-box next to the automatic/manual network selection . ...can't beleive Android is lacking this, even my 5 year old phones have it
