    uh... 6.0, 6.1 mod???

The official T-Mobile 2.2 update is for the original myTouch only. The Fender , 1.2, & slide are still waiting to get it. You shouldn't have any problems with the genius feature, I doubt it needs data full time, as it looks like a fancy short cut to google maps. :)

My phone has a mod from here. It was rooted so I could bypass the need for data.
Thanks for the link you sent me. I have not heard of the xda. I dint know if I could simply reflash with that zip as it might unroot my phone. Then I would be back where I begin with :(
I will look into it and see what I can find out. Sigh... Why do they put the block on buying smartphones without a data plan. Some people like me truly just wanted a bigger screen touchphone with features similiar to the IPod touch.

Anyone out there dabble in rooting tried the flash???? Thanks again budney :)

You may need to revert back to a stock kernel if you have a modified one, and you may need to revert back to a stockish ROM too. But rooting is very easy on the original myTouch.

    Direction on rooting:
    xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM][32b] Official AOSP 2.2 OTA

    SuperOneClick App:
    [APP]SuperOneClick v1.5.5 (Root, Unroot, Enable Non-Market App, Get UNLOCK code) - xda-developers
