Android 11 is now available for Pixel phones. My Pixel 4 is now updating to Android 11. https://www.android.com/android-11/
One of the upgrades with Android 11 is connecting Android Auto wireless to your car with a compatible head set. Well it doesn't work in my car, it keeps telling me to hook up a cable. Bljuetooth is on and connected to MyChevy. I have 2019 Chevy Traverse.
I'm pretty sure my car doesn't support wireless either, at least it didn't work when I tried yesterday. One thing remaining to wait for is the updated Android Auto app (mine is still 5.5, they just released 5.6). And the Messages app doesn't yet support chat bubbles Although apparently the beta version does…
Does your car support Wi-Fi in general? My car has Wi-Fi hotspot functionality, but I'm not sure whether the head unit is connected to that hardware or not. If it is, it's all just a question of software. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk
Yes my car has WiFi support. Also I doubled checked the software in my head set and i have the latest version available through Chevrolet. I double checked setting in Android Auto and wireless is turned on. Since this is so new, I can't find a lot on information on it not working on my car.
Yeah, I'm not holding my breath for it. Google says "available on some 2021 model vehicles" and mine is a 2019 model. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk
Android Auto 5.6, no dice on wireless connection. @palandri , good luck with yours Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk
I just took a two week vacation to the southwest. Android Auto never worked wireless and was flaky about 25% of the time. Some times Android Auto would say it was connected, but wouldn't display on my car screen, nor was I able to mirror it to my car screen. A few times it said it was connected and not display, but I got voice directions through my car screen. There are some bugs they need to work on.
Yes, Android Auto can get finicky and I suspect part of the blame is on the head unit. But it shouldn't be surprising in the Android world where nothing seems to be working a 100%, although 25% seems like too high an error rate. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk
I don't think there are any head units that support Android Auto Wireless. However, I did back this project. I hope it comes to fruition. It should be a good alternative until we see support from head units https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless/x/24615272#/
Interesting. You may be right, and a little research indicates that it's highly unlikely any of the currently available AA systems could be upgraded to wireless via software due to hardware limitations. Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk
