A lot of that (being able to read "garbled" words & phrases) has to do with memory recognition. It also has a lot do with, unfortunately, the sheer number of bad spellers in the western world, where English is prevalent. We become so accustomed to reading commonly misspelled words ("definately" comes to mind) that we just make a mental correction based on repeated viewings. Also, think about how many "cryptic" text messages that you have read and understood. This is learned behaviour, if I'm not mistaken. :twocents:
As Jethro Bodine so proudly declares: "I am [or was it 'are' - ?] a 6th Grade Graduate!" Do you know your "gozintas"? You know, 3 gozinta 15 5 times, etc.
For clarity purposes, "gozintas" was how Jethro described mathematical short division. I doubt that he was capable of anything higher than 9 gozinta 90 10 times, if even that.
As Jethro always said when "ciphering", "Don't forget to carry the naught". Or "I want to be a double naught spy, Uncle Jed."
 LMAO! Gawd, I completely forgot about "naught" and "ciphering"! And what about his sister, Jethrine?
R32VW, Yeah you have a point. I for one CANT HARDLY SPELL! I am a junior in college and still at times cant spell some of the easiet words that most people can. But its ok, were i lack in one area i defently made up in the other! :lmao:
Lol I got that email like two years ago... but I still think that it's cool that it's really easy to read it .
Jethrine, now there's a scary thought. Have you seen Max Baer, Jr. (Jethro) recently? He is developing a casino in Las Vegas. He has the Elvis glasses, Wayne Newton pencil thin mustache....scary.....
About the only "keeping up" with The Beverly Hillbillies (TBH) that I have made an attempt at was watching an E! True Hollywood Stories episode on TBH about 6 months ago. I was oddly drawn to it for some reason. Maybe the part where the cast of TBH was flown to Tokyo in the late 1960s and they were offended, with the possible exception of Buddy Ebsen ("Jed"), when their Japanese fans yelled out character names instead of the individual actor's names. :crying: Oh well. Yawn. :nopity:
