alternative to cool edit 1.2

    I wanted to edit an mp3 file but Cool Edit is now an adobe product and is no longer a free download (costs $300). Is there any free product out there I can use?

    Voicetones Studio 3 at myPhoneFiles.com maybe? it's $29, and it rips CDs as well, and sends clips to your phone. Just a thought. It does some basic editing only though, cut, paste, few filters, unless you need something more elaborate...
