This is one of those way out there towns in western Jersey and i am sure they needed this tower. When they said Nextel is adding 12 antenna, I assume they mean 12 panels to the tower & not for other companies just Nextel.
I guess Sprint backed out since it they are merging with Nextel & would eventually get the site.
...So I guess Beta is right next to it?
Seriously, I've lived in NJ for 15 years and I've never heard of that town before.
LOL I bet at the time of the bidding war Sprint and Nextel had no idea they would be merging.
That town is out near the PA border on 78, I have been there when i drove tow trucks & that is probobly the only reason i knew of it. It's out by where the old Ingersol Rand plant use to be if I remember correctly.
Alpha is right next to Phillipsburg along the NJ/PA border off Route 22. It's a growing suburb but most people lump it in with Phillispburg.
because all of alpha, and pohatchong send their kids to the p'burg schools
It was in the paper today that this tower is being put up by TMobile
or is this a different tower?
Yep....12 panels is just 3 sectors with 4 panels each.
Yes this is a different tower, the original article was for Nextel to put panels on the Alph water tower, so it looks like other carriers are trying to get some towers up to get the coverage out there.
At least the planning board is going to have another meeting to see about an Alternate location, since the location is going against all of there requirements, and if they come up with a comprimise between the 2 locations, I think they will get it approval.
