Unfortunately thats what it would be for the case of myself in Chicagoland. Which is why alltel doesn't even garner consideration, its just not practical.
yeah i love IMMIX a lot...........they changed their plans like i think i said earlier so they all included unlimited texting........and i had already locked myself into a 2 yr contract wit Sprint so i was really bummed out........but when i had T-Mobile i roamed on IMMIX a lot during the summer because of where i worked........it was perfect.....but like i said.......as of now they dont have data capabilities on any of their network but they are implementing some sort of plan to piggyback on T-Mobile and Cingular's cellular networks........im not sure how they plan to do this......but they will use their own network for voice and be an MVNO for data........like i said i dont know how they plan to do this and the only time i used Alltel was in Williamsburg and i wasnt too impressed....
If you mean Williamsburg VA, my sister in law just dumped Alltel for their poor coverage down there & went with Verizon, she said too many times her phone would have no signal or drop calls. When I was down there last year my Cingular was decent, except in a couple of stores. I know they don't like too many towers down there especially in the Colonial section of town, I haven't asked her how her Verizon is working out for her, but I am sure it's better.
a lot of the Alltel roaming was just poor call quality or the calls never connected so i just avoided the network and waited for home network service.......Verizon was really good down there but Sprint had Alltel prioritized over Verizon prolli cuz Alltel's agreement was cheaper for that area since their network sucked
For $40 on T-Mob you get 300 minutes, n/w and the semi-circle, no m2m. Alltel for $40 will get you 500 nationwide mins, m2m and n/w. The m2m and extra 200 mins will be enough to make up for the semi-circle for the vast majorioty of customers. Be honest, how many of those 300 min plans do you sell? Surely the $60 plan is the one you have the most success with? $60 on T-Mob gets you 1000 mins, n/w, and the semi-circle, no m2m. $60 on Alltel get you 900 minutes (which comes with more coverage), m2m, n/w, and a full circle. What Alltel loses in the 100 anytime minutes is more than made up by double the circle numbers and the m2m. How does T-Mob work with 2 lines? Would you have to pay $84 to get the 1000 anytime mins, m2m, n/w, and the semi circle. Alltel for only $80 has a full circle, m2m, n/w, 1000 nationwide mins AND 1000 sms / mms on each line. I really believe that My Circle is the difference between Alltel and its competition.
yeah.........IMMIX does have really good coverage but there are dropped calls all the time........ you sort of get over the fact that Alltel offers 10 numbers and T-Mobile only offers 5...........but T-Mobile has the better value.........Alltel just added unlimited texting to their MyCircle...........maybe T-Mobile will add it too?
I did lose a few calls down I-86 when i went to Altoona, better than getting no reception at all. I thought that alltel added 1000 sms or mms to the myCircle plan. (thats at least what i saw with the commercial.)
Alltel has added 1000 sms / mms to the new Family plan which has 1000 nationwide minutes, m2m, n/w (can have 7pm n/w in place of the sms/mms) and a full circle for $80, this comes with 2 lines. There are also some new smart choice plans for smartphone customers which include unlimited sms.
There's actually been at least a couple new towers erected in Williamsburg over the past few months. They're expecting a big tourist influx this summer with the 400 year anniversary. Strange to hear your reports of the area because I'm over there at least on a monthly basis and I probably hear the most complaints about Cingular followed by Sprint but because of the potential customers there, most have found a way to get coverage where most live and work. Traditionally, cell towers have been sparse because of the colonial look so it's been more of a challenge for the PCS providers to have good coverage in Williamsburg but that is changing so really nobody has bad coverage problems. Most people I know there have gone to either Verizon or Alltel. But here lately, I know nTelos and Alltel have improved coverage in the area and I'm not 100% sure but several other panels have been added to newer towers, I'm thinking Sprint but not sure. The one time I did fall back and roam on Verizon in Williamsburg was several days after Tropical Storm Ernesto came through and Alltel and Sprint were both down for a while. But if she was getting no service in a number of areas where Verizon is better, it probably had at least something to do with the phone because Alltel and Verizon and even the PCS providers seem to be clustered and zoned into very similar locations where they will allow the towers to be built.
Actually for the most part, 300 minutes with the 5 people unlimited is usually plenty and in most cases that 200 minutes that alltell offers with the same price would not cover the minute used to the customers 5 people. Most customers who want the myfaves talk at least 500 minutes between their 5 but ome of them talk thousands of minutes.... we sell quite a few of those plans in fact. And with our family plans we actually have a Family Messaging bundle where you can pay $19.95 and have unlimited text on all of you lines on that account (up to 5 lines). so for 1000 minutes each person on the family plan would have their own 5 people, UNLIMITED TEXT/PICTURE/INSTANT MESSAGING, and free n/w for only $100 and they wouldnt have to worry about going over on their texts... or they could get any of the other text plans for less.
Correct Also, with me 900 anytime minutes can last me for years!! 98-99% of my minutes are used on just MyCircle alone. With the plan, the most anytime minutes i've used was about 55 in one month's time. Also, i talk about 8,000 - 10,000 minutes per month on average. and i only pay about $65. we're talkin' 200 minutes for one dollar.
Check out this other forum for more on the comparison: http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/alltel-users/61007-why-does-alltel-do-this.html There is more CDMA than GSM in the US, so Alltel will do you better. Also, i posted an analysis of my bill 10-2006/11-2006 and is very interesting: ____________________ Posted Saturday, February 17, 2007: If you think My Faves by T-Mobile is a good thing; theres something better, Top 12 Alltel/My Circle Advantages: 1. You can call 10 numbers for free, not 5 2. You can update your numbers every day (vs. every month w/ My Faves) 3. My Circle will work on any phone (vs the "My Faves" enabled handset) 4. My Circle works while you roam 5. Alltel roams on Verizon, Sprint and others for free (largest roaming network - almost 90% of the continental US). 6. Reasonably priced (about 2 dollars a day) 7. My Circle numbers are conveniently managed online 8. Who came first? My Circle, of course (notice the "my" in My Faves logo is inside a circle). 9. Alltel is the fastest growing cellular company in the USA - and is currently the 5th largest 10. Nearly 10 million customers with My Circle (vs. only about 2 million with My Faves). 11. You can keep Mobile-to-Mobile minutes, (T-Mobile takes them away, so you waste "MyFaves" putting those people into a solid "semi-MyCircle") 12. Change your plan whenever, it won't extend or renew your contract Alltel/My Circle disadvantage: 1. Not available if you live in any part of NJ, PA, DE, MD, NY, RI, MA, NH, VT, ME, IN, OR, WA, AK, HI - yet at least (Well theres no T-Mobile in the Carolinas - GSM Not Recommended) interesting stuff about my bill 10-16-2006 / 11-15-2006: Heres my record of used minutes for Mid-October - Mid-November 2006: Total Minute Usage: 15,233 Total cost: $67.00 Which means about 227 minutes is only $1.00 227 minutes = 3 hours & 47 minutes 15,233 minutes = over 10½ days Wow... And you thought 1,000 anytime minutes was a lot??? Breakdown of it all: 1. 18 anytime 2. 1,110 Night & Weekend 3. 14,105 My Circle / Mobile-to-Mobile so heres a great perspective (if it would've been overage fees)... 14,105 + 18 = 14,123 potential peak minutes (which most were probably, LoL) 14,123 - 900 (included anytime) = 13,223 minutes over! ok, normally overages are charged an extra 40¢/min! 13,223 x 40¢ = $5,289.20 whoa................................... $5,289.20(over) + $67.00(original bill) = $5,356.20 = Final Bill ($5,356.20 is enough for 80 months of service @ $67/month) 80 months = 6 and 2/3 years ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Would you pay that every month for a cell phone???? -Not with My Circle, you won't!!! ____________________________________________________________ I love going almost anywhere, and seeing a full signal on my phone! Even in the Great Smokey Mountains NP, I had a full signal (courtesy of Verizon) at the top of Newfound Gap (5,048 feet above sea level). Cool ! Dats My Alltel
Alltel is the only national carrier who does not offer coverage in my area.......they sound like they would be decent if they actually expanded out of Central U.S.
ummm well frankly no one cares about SunCom i know i dont eventually they maight be bought out or something like that
Re: Alltel mycircle vs T-mobile MyFaves SunCom's plans are actually expensive. The "UnPlan" is $59.99/mo, but only if you stay in it's coverage area. Excessive roaming is 50¢/min outta the Carolinas & vicinity. You'd pay almost *triple* the price, $149.99/month if you want UnPlan, Nationwide. Not good because again, There is more CDMA coverage in the US than GSM. You'd use either Cingular or T-Mobile, which doesn't serve the rural areas as good. I'd stick with CDMA because of the wider area coverage. And again, T-Mobile would most likely eat SunCom because of the deprivation of T-Mobile in the Carolinas, at least 10 million potential customers. Just what they're looking for. Target in-sight...An appetite easily satisfied. LoL
and i bet the unlimited mobile to mobile is $7.00 PER LINE. and change fav's only once per month? even alexander graham bell had better plans than that!
as for suncom, i was with them for 7 years and as soon as i left I-81, "no service". they were generous with their minutes, but you had to alter your route to be able to keep the phone on.
No, only My Circle can be changed every day, and goes into effect at Midnight. My Faves can be changed only once a month, about 3,000% less than the circle (100% for each day). Can't beat Alltel
Im on a MyFaves plan and ive been able to change my numbers more than once a month. Can't beat Alltel except when they arent in your area M2M for myFaves is $9.99/month for ALL lines in a family account or $7 for a single line plan. It aint half bad, but still not as good as alltel.
I wasn't saying that SunCom was a better carrier than T-Mobile or Alltel and I wasn't saying that SunCom isn't going to go bankrupt or get bought out... I was just saying that they had the whole My Circle/My Faves thing first.
i thinkhow often you can change your MyFaves on T-Mobile is kinda blurred..........you say a month.........my friends got it and she said the lady in the store said every week...........but she changes hers every 24 hours.........so that rules out that reason............ .......and if that disadvantage applies to you then all of the other advantages dont really matter do they...........i liv ein PA and i might consider Alltel if they had service her but they dont and plus........as a company.........T-Mobile is better anyway........and GSM is really headed somewhere with UMTS coming up and UMA service in R&D.......CDMA is still stuck at EV-DO Rev A...........its running out of roads to follow
Not yelling at you or anything. But Alltel as a company has been one of if not the best in wireless. Which is really better between the two is not clear cut what so ever. And CDMA is not stuck in anyway, there are just as many places to go technologically....... The bottom line is, T-Mobile gives you good rates, Alltel gives you good rates. Get the one that gives you the best coverage. It's Cingular, Sprint, and Verizon we should be fighting against
Hey, remember EvDO has been out for a lil bit and that is CDMAs version of 3G. Look at the way that Korea and Japan use CDMA, there isnt a thing that you cant do on that network, except maybe wipe your :browani: You're on Sprint, you never know there might b a day where you roam on Alltel in the middle of nowhere... Hmmm...I dont know about that, with our combined subscribers we'd only b about 35 million strong...you think thats enough to take the big 3? Or maybe if we do a FavCircle plan...15 friends, nights @ 7, 1000 SMS/MMS a month & unlimited M2M between the two networks...thats sticking it to the big 3. :lmao:
Huh? I love Alltel!!!!. When I lived in NJ, i probably would've considered T-mobile because at the time, 1,000 minutes for me was actually plenty. 3 years later, i'm on the phone more times than a telemarketer trying desprately to make money. LoL. Each of Alltel's 3 specials (MyCircle, Largest network; 1-minute credit for dropped calls, and "Anytime Plan Changes") in their own way are more useful than some may think or realize. Each one contributed to my decision to go with Alltel. As long as we're happy here.
