Ok so curiousity got me to check into alltel's mycircle. I work for T-Mobile and I keep seeing alltel commercials on TV totally bashing T-mobie about our myfaves plan and not keeping our mobile to mobile minutes. So as I was looking at the plans and comparing prices and features I realized WOW-- T-Mobile has better values on plans. With alltel you cant even get the my cirlce until you have a plan that is $59.99 or higher!! And for that $59.99 you only get 900 minutes. yes you get free mobile to mobile but if you compare that to T-Mobile you get 1500 minutes, 5 people unimited calling any network, free nights/weekends/roaming/long distance, and if you nee more minutes than that, its only $7 a month for free m2m (mobile to mobile). The real znger to me is that alltel doesnt allow anyone to have the mycircle fo anything less than $60 a month!! With T-Mobile you can have a plan as low as 39.99 and you would have 5 people unlimited, free nights, free weekends, and could add the mobile to mobile for $7... Im just amused I guess at how they are bashing t-mobile about our mobile to mobile not bieng included but failing to mention that their customers have to py at least 60 a month to get th mycircle. ok I wil climb off my soapbox now...
T-Mobile's plans used to be better until they stopped offering T-Mobile-to-T-Mobile. Looking at just the promotions, however, Alltel's My Circle blows My Faves out of the water. No question. I have the old Family Time plan for $69.99 1,000 anytime minutes, unlimited nights/weekends and unlimited T-Mobile-to-T-Mobile and I'll never change to a My Faves plan because a good majority of the people I call are T-Mobile customers. I don't think T-Mobile should have made My Faves customers pay for T-Mobile-to-T-Mobile and I don't think they should only allow you to change the My Faves numbers once a month. I do like the fact that you can change your My Faves numbers from your phone though. Alltel's My Circle only allows you to change your numbers online.
yes but with alltel you dont get free roaming on your plans and you can ad mobile to mobile to any T-mobile plan...
What do you mean? Alltel's National Freedom plans give you roaming on at least three other networks and the Total Freedom plans cover roaming on any CDMA network in the US.
Yeah roaming isn't really an issue with Alltel. Mobile to mobile is free with Alltel. T-Mobile is just trying to stay competitive the My Circle is much better. My plan 75 a month, 7pm nights, free unlimited night and weekends, free unlimited mobile to mobile, 1000 anytime minutes, two lines, my circle, travel a lot and never had a roaming charge (Sprint, Verizon, USCC, etc), free long distance (not sure why this is even mentioned). Now the have the same plan and 79.99 with the choice of either 1000 texts/pics/vids messages or 7pm nights, which you can pick what line has what. The T-Mobile option is 39.99, but add the 7 dollars. And I get 5 more free unlimited numbers for 13 dollars. Again it is good competitive move by T-Mobile. But the fact that you can get these prices with better coverage rivaling VZW and Sprint, it is worth every dollar.
I"m almost certain that ALLTEL's national plan with roaming included covers more, geographically, than T-Mobile with roaming.
and alltel's TOTAL FREEDOM plan has unlimited mobile2mobile, my circle, and NO ROAMING CHARGES in the 48 states. only limit on that plan is 1000 nites and weekend minutes per line. 59.99 plus 4 more phones at $10 works out to $20 per phone for nearly unlimited usage and NO ROAMING. alltel can't be beat.
Part of the Alltel v. T-Mobile discussion depends on how many lines you have. AIUI, Alltel's plans offer a total of 10 customers in the Circle, but with T-Mobile each line of service in the plan gets 5 numbers, so if you have 3 or 4 lines in a family plan for example you could have 15 or 20 different numbers in MyFaves.
This logic might work for some, but most families talk to each other quite a bit. But since Mobile-to-Mobile is taken away, they all have to include each other in the MyFaves, drastically reducing those spots. Within a family, there is usually repetition of numbers most called.
I agree that it would make sense for most TM customers to add the m2m. However, while most families do talk to one another quite a bit, the kids talk to their friends, who are usually unique numbers to those that the parents will use. Looking at the Alltel website, the new myCircle Family Choice plan for $79.99 most closely matches the T-Mobile Family 1000 myFaves plan for $59.99, plus $10 for m2m is $69.99. The T-Mobile plan is cheaper, but the Alltel plan includes either nights at 7pm or 1000 free messages. Additional lines are also $5 more expensive with Alltel. It all depends on each person's unique needs.
What annoys me most is that Alltel advertises in areas that don't provide their service. I hate the fact that I can see their ads in Chicago yet I couldn't get their service even if it was the only service left. I'm perfectly happy with T-mobile and I love the freedom of switching phones too much to need 10 numbers. To me its worth perhaps paying a little more to know that I have absolute freedom with my devices. Just my .02.
One can use an Alltel plan in Chicago as both Sprint and Verizon offer service there. With a National or Total Freedom plan, you will not be billed for roaming. Is there native Alltel service there? No. Are there Alltel sales offices in Chicago? No. But one can use an Alltel handset in Chicago. It's weird that they were advertise there without native coverage, though.
I saw the ALLTEL head-to-head comparison ad last night watching A&E. I thought it was pretty funny- ALLTEL has no native service in my part of the State.
They used to advertise in South Florida as well, I think its safe to say that their ads are national but I respond to your post with 3 questions: 1) Do they have a 50% roaming policy or one of the policies that requires a certain portion of each month to be spent on their native network? 2) Do ALL data features work while roaming? I hear such inconsistent truths about what works for sprint/verizon while roaming, I wonder what agreements alltel does have in place. 3) Would I be able to get service even so I had a billing address no where near their service areas? Nor do I have ANY address that I could use to sign up for service. That being said, i've rarely if ever heard anyone say negative things about alltel and while i'm not ready to give up gsm freedom if I could get their service, i'd def consider it. Seems like alot of people think alltel does alot of things right.
1. Yes, but they do not enforce it. 2. Mine have worked excellent on Sprint and Verizon, I can't speak to anything else, USCC, etc.... The Sprint EVDO agreement will be in place once the free evdo loop hole is fixed on U Prepaid from Alltel; 3. Actually, you can't technically do that with any service. Believe it or not you cannot get Sprint, VZW, Cingular, and T-Mobile everywhere. There are a lot of places off the main road that people cannot get their services. I do believe you can change your address to an out of native service area one if you already have service with them. I'm not sure though. I also know that some people have been able to use proxy addresses to activate service with them....
I've watched TV in Las Vegas and see their commercials too. I was watching a national cable network (TBS). They and A&E do carry their commercials. What about Verizon? You see their commercials on those same channels. Is Verizon native to West Texas? Do people in West Texas watch those TV channels? Just my two cents.
1. most companies have some sort of policy but have no way to enforce it or just don't feel like enforcing it 2. Sprint can data roam on Verizon.......not sure about Alltel or USCC or others.... if i had the money for myfaves i would get a small anytime minute plan and use myfaves because the people i talk to are on either Cingular or Verizon......and their priceranges are too big for me when i tcomes to rates
Alltel Blows!!!!!!! I Will Never Do Business With Alltell Even If They Pay For Mt Service For Me...alltel=ripoffs!!!
Certainly sounds like it and while alltel is a great deal i'd rather stick with a carrier that is native to my market. While it seems likely I wouldn't run into any problems down the road i'd rather just avoid them altogether while there are 5 other carriers that operate around me I might as well take that road. Still, if t-mobile released 10 numbers, maybe even 7 numbers that would be better. I could always add 1 or 2 more girls to my list of favorite people.
yeah i have Sprint but like i say in all posts........i dont talk to other Sprint customers other than my mom (sprint) and dad (nextel)..........and those calls last no longer than a minute...........my major calls are usually somewhere between 15-45 minutes long and they are to either Verizon or Cingular or IMMIX Wireless (formerly known as Conestoga Wireless for those of you who are familiar)
Ha ha, I hated them for a while too. I ranted on these forums as well. Now I believe that all carriers are the same it's just that you have to choose one where the pros outweigh the cons in your particular case.
That's very true, they all seem to be getting more & more alike with their problems/lssues that people complain about. Your right, you have to find the one that works & has the most pro's for your situation.
Go IMMIX (reppin dat PA). Ive roamed on them a few times excellent coverage. The closest alltell comes to me is say 1700 miles away unless u count the little chunk in connecticut. As a myFaves member i gotta say im pretty happy with the service. I do wish i could add more people, but t-mobile gives you a decent amount of minutes for the plan (2000), and i pay for m2m so it kinda evens itself out.
Alltel has a roaming policy and they do enforce it, just rarely. One would have to use an excessive amount of roaming to receive the, "We're cancelling you because you're costing us too much money," letter. I'm talking 80%-100% non-native roaming for six months or more.
