Hello! I will be very glad for any answer.

I live in Russia but I will go to the USA in September for a month on holiday. My job is connected with the Internet so I need a constant access to the Internet in the USA. I will be traveling all over USA. As far as I understand in order to get wireless internet nationwide I can use services of Alltel. I am planning to buy Huawei EC228 USB Wireless Internet Card on ebay. So, when I arrive I will have this card with me. So, my quiestion is how can I activate wireless internet on my card? I will spend only 4 weeks in the USA, so I dont want to have any contracts but only prepaid services. How can I pay for the internet?

If you already own the card, the problem is not the contract. That is easily avoided with Alltel. Your problem will arise when they do a credit check to open an account for you. If you don't have an American social security number or a driver's license issued in the USA, they won't be able to do that. If you have a friend or family member in the USA who lives in an Alltel service area, he or she could set you up but then it is a matter of trust on their part. Alltel does not do prepaid data.

Thank you for your answer. Actually, I have social security number. So, I will need to activate an account and get some plan? Could I have unlimited internet access all over USA?

Another question. I cant find info about Alltel offices in New York. I will arrive to New York city and I would like to activate internet there. How could I find Alltel office in NYC?

Sometimes companies advertise nationally even if they don't serve the whole country. It is cheaper than advertising in multiple regions.

Concerning Alltel activations, you will need an address in a location served by Alltel. You will be able to use your card anywhere in the US but you have to have a "home" location which is inside an area that Alltel is licensed to serve.

You would probably be better off with an AT&T data card, and a prepaid GoPhone SIM. Unlimited data would cost $20 per month. You can get more info in the GoPhone prepaid forum at HowardForums.

You'll find Alltel in Litchfield, CT 06759. It's in the northwest part of Connecticut, in the corner of New York and Massachusetts. This is surely their closest location to New York City.

Not any more. That license was sold to Verizon some time ago.

Alltel has a 15 day trial period if you don't have decent service,Use that up and then go with AT&T and use up their trial period service
