There have been some changes to Alltel.com recently, including the addition of a new tagline. America's Largest Wireless Network - covering more of the country than any other company.
MOTO, How's it goin. A quick question that you might know, I just recently renewed my WW plan which includes free roaming everywhere West of the Missippi River. Will this plan be grandfathered in or will they change me over to one of the Alltel plans?
AFAIK your WW plan will be grandfathered in to Alltel's billing system. I think you'll be able to keep it as long as you have WW equipment.
Most wireless companies that purchase another company honor all contracts that their customers currently have. I know that when Midwest Wireless bought out Cellcom's Iowa markets, they are still honoring previous Cellcom customer contracts......which were dirt cheap plans!
Moto, what are Alltel's plans for the remaining WW int'l assets that weren't already sold off? WW is still active in Slovenia with their VEGA network. http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/net_siww.shtml
My understanding at first was they were going to keep them but now I think maybe they'll sell them. I really don't know... don't deal with the international aspects at all. Sorry.
I just learned today that Alltel has bought out our local cellular provider First Cellular. My wife's concerned because she & our daughter is out of contract & that whenever Alltel takes over, they'll not let them keep their plan which consists of unlimited local calls (any calls, not just mobile to mobile). Does she have cause to be concerned? Thanks.
She shouldn't be... usually they will allow those plans to be grandfathered in but if she needs a new phone they will probably make her change and if she changes to an Alltel plan she will not be allowed to change back. Essentially, that is what they did with WWC's plans. They'll let you keep them but if you want a new phone you have to change to an Alltel plan and you can't change back once you do change. Alltel's OP/WE minutes start at 9PM, WWC's start at 8PM, as long as you keep the WWC plan, your minutes will continue to start at 8PM, even after the conversion from WWC's to Alltel's billing system.
Man! Everyone's beating me to stuff I want to post about Alltel today. Sheesh, it's a wonder I even bother anymore. The disclaimer alltelwirelesstech is referring to is below.
