I just went to the website to see if they're in my area, since I was pretty sure they weren't. The message was "sorry, we don't offer any service in your area." No service. So, I'd bet they just won't allow you to sign up, and if they did, it'd be a bad idea since you'd probably never have service. Why would you want to do that? You're posting in this thread, so I'm guessing you're considering an alltel flash, maybe before you buy the phone...? Cause you can get the moto ui with the alltel flash on a verizon phone, get everything up and running, and you'll get the verizon service with the moto ui perks... I'd say that's the best bet. I really didn't want the red bar ugliness and I honestly considered switching carriers because I wanted a razr but I didn't want it to look like verizons, but I stayed because I heard so much bad stuff about all other carriers reception, and that's the main part of having a cell phone. I wouldn't want to be happy witht he way my cell phone looks, but not be able to connect half the time, or get dropped calls, or just have terrible reception so no one can hear me. There's nothing you can do about getting better reception when going with another company, but there's eomthing you can do about the look of the ui of your phone once you have a company with good reception.

Bad news for you, the KRZR also uses the same Verizon firmware...people are doing the same Alltel flash for the Verizon KRZR as well (excpet with the KRZR firwmare)

You bought a krzr because you were having too much trouble with the flash? Interesting choice... although there are cheaper options.

Alltell doesnt sell their service in my area, but i know people with alltell phones that work here where i live and they arent charged for roaming. Thats why im trying to find out how to activate an alltell phone on prepaid service (called "U"), so i can experience as many carriers as possible. Ive tried most of the carriers that sell in my area.

What about if u try getting it with BitPim. You are in the correct folder. I am not sure why it isnt showing up in QPST. There are files that I cant see, are u sure it is def in alphabetical order? It appeared they are, but figured Id throw it out there. I backed mine up in BitPim. Also, what about the 10.key file, were you able to get that okay from the /DMU folder?

so I just did the update and I can send/recive text messages, place calls etc.... I do however have the GIN 554 error and can't seem to resolve it, I had CS do a re-provisioning but that did me no good.... I have downloaded/ran all the seem updates but I'm still hosed.... any suggestions?

The customer service rep mentioned that I needed to be on the 1X network, however at the top of my screen it's showing a D that indicates digital CDMA network, is this correct? any help would be appreciated...

Oh sorry, Verizon, K1m, Alltell Firmware...

On a side note My seem 01d1 - 0001 won't stay on my vzw settings, it keeps reverting to alltel.net any ideas on why it won't stick?

Yea, your 01d1 RECORD 1 seem will never stick. It will always revert back to alltel.net. However, what about your 01d1 RECORD 2 seem, THAT one SHOULD stick if you have done everything correctly. The fix that usually makes is stick is the Mobile IP fix. Did you do that? And if so, did you remember to to change the active profile from 0 to 1? (this switches your active profile to the RECORD 2 of seem 01d1 which SHOULD stick as xxxxxxxxxx@vzw3g.com, therefore rendering your 01d1 0001 useless) And if so, have you loaded it back up to make sure the mobile ip fix stuck properly? If it didnt, try writing it to the phone with the power off and battery removed. Lastly, what ua prof did you write in the seem file? The k1m or v3?

I'm using Moto PST and I did do the mobile IP fix, now my Phone@vzw3g.com shows up consistently when I go to the data connection settings, but I can't seem to get onto the 1x network still.... However, my GIN and data all works fine... when I read the mobile IP data using PST I just input all the fields that I could from the screen shot.... and forgive me for being a bit slow but what do you mean by "ua prof"?

I just checked my 01d1 0001 still shows alltel.net, however, my 01d1 0002 shows nothing at all.....

I should also mention that I don't have a backup of cdma_sec so I can't do the evdo fix :( (we don't have evdo here anyway but it's a matter of principal) can I just download that file or is it phone specific?

Okay so I'm messing with it now and i'm noticing the second part of the Mobile IP fix shows a tethered NAI and a NAI, I don't seem to have this option in moto pst...... I attached a shot of my 01d1 0002 seem..... Okay, more questions flying out there.... Should I be using my MIN @vzw3g.com or MDN@vzw3g.com?

cdma sec file is phone specific, you can't get it from someone else, you can only get it back flashing back to vzw, getting data up and running, and then backing it up. It's okay not to have it though, just means you can't use data with evdo... I flashed before they found that fix and I didn't go back and get the file cause it's just too much of a hassle when I'll force to 1x anyway to save battery and because I'm not in an evdo area either.

polycat33: does your phone show the "1x" icon at the top or is it the "D"? The reason I ask is because all of our alltel phones around here show as "D" (as does mine now...) however, verizon phones show the "1x" icon, anyone know how to get it back onto that network?

It is the same network. There is a seem edit that determines which icon shows up. Alltel phones firmware default to "D". Verizon phones firmware defaults to "1X" They are both the exact same network. You can change it on your phone if it makes you feel better. It is seem 2742, Record 1, Bytes 0, Offset 74, Bit 7 - Check to ON for "1x", Check to OFF for "D" I put mine to "D" b/c I like "digital" better in my mind...but it has nothing to do with network quality/status. It is either EVDO, or 1x/D

excellent, thanks I appreciate that edit, it just makes me feel better to see the proper icon because i'm eccentric like that... We don't have EVDO in our area anyway so when/if the time comes perhaps I'll go through all that stuff as well....

A quick update about my findings on the *228 thing, I noticed some people have problems some don't, when I did a *228 option 1 everything was fine (aside from having to re-disable evdo in test mode) but when I did *228 option 2 my phone went through the update fine but then my service was apparently killed, so I did *228 option 1 right after that and it re-enabled it and worked fine, then data worked as well...

So doing *228 option 2, disable evdo, *228 option 1, disable evdo, got 1x data working properly and then my phone worked as well.... just in case anyone else is having issues

Just thought I'd reply to this post since it's something that's a good general tip to everyone...

If a guide tells you what program to use, there's likely a very good reason for it. And in the case of the Mobile IP fix, something I developed, QPST was the only program to properly write it.

Well, they are both specific to your particular phone, so nobody could share the files. However, you can still proceed.

For the MMS file, when you get to that part of th tutorial (highlited in green), u can enter all of the required information into your phone, so you should be fine there.

As for the Mobile IP, you dont need that as long as you did the QPST backup. In QPST, it automatically backed up your Mobile IP file, so you can make the necessary changes in there.

You have definitely made it a more complicated process for yourself, but you will be fine if u do every seem edit properly.

Hate to open an old thread, but its helped me in my effort to flash my Verizon V3m to Alltel. I used the ALT_V3m_01.1A.oor_pRIkk27390_MONSTER_01.shx file to do this. My problem is that I want to use this on the Alltel network and I've lost the ability to connect to the OpenWave browser. All I can get is an "Authentication failed" error. Everything else including MMS works fine. Any ideas.....? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for posting in a very old thread. I came to it when I was taking my v3m from verizon firmware and flashing it with this alltel firmware. Everything works so far except for mms pix messaging. How do I get mms pix messaging to work on it again? Is there a newer firmware then this version?
