Ok, finally got ALMOST everything working (I think). I followed the wiki using qualcomm and I am back on Verizon's network with the Alltel flash. however, I have these 2 little problems: 1.) Everytime I use the web, i have to go back into settings -> security -> Data Connections -> 1xRTT Data and reset the password. For some reason it doesn't seem to stick with vzw. The username is correct but the password causes an "Authentication Failed" until I go in and reset it from a ******* to vzw (***). Any ideas? 2.) Can't seem to get VCast to work. I have created the '13478' and '12513' folders repeatedly, added the files respectively, then created brew_preloads and added the correct files in there. As soon as I restart, everything goes away. The MIF folder has two files in it 1'13478' and '12513' but they are 0 bytes. When I finally get this to work, where will I find the VCast menus? The only reason I am fooling with this is for the MP3 player/sync functions. I do not purchase VCast stuff. So if there is a way to do MP3 player/WMP sync without this... let me know and I won't worry about it.
It sounds like you didnt do the seem edit to set "vzw" as your default password. Now you said u used the wiki, what wiki did u use? There isnt a "wiki" for the Alltel V3m flash, just the v3c upgrade. Are u doing the v3c upgrade? Or are u doing the Alltel v3m monster? They require two very different methods. Again, this depends on what flash you are doing. If u are flashing to the Alltel v3c upgrade, the Vcast will work. BUT, if u are using the Alltel v3m monster flash, there is no Vcast b/c we have wiped out Verizon firmware, and installed Alltel files (and alltel doesnt use Vcast) Just let me know whihc flash u are attempting, and which file u used to flash.
I used a combination of sites but mainly I went step by step through http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Monster1.htm I used the new Alltel V3M monster flash. This post above worked exactly except for the stuff about Vcast and the part where my password doesn't stick. As far as the password goes, what seem is that located in? I am fairly comfortable with moding now so I am not too concerned.
Again, My main concern is not VCast really. I just want to be able to use the sd micro as an mp3 player and I do not see anywhere to do that within the native Alltel v3m monster software. I do not use vcast at all so no biggie but the GIN Get Tunes & Tones -> Sync Music is what I want (or equivilant) and the password to stick in the settings for data connection 1xrtt
For the vzw password, just check this seem and see what is entered: Seem 29bc, Record 1, Bytes 40... It should show v.z.w...............................................
Is there a vcast fix yet? Last I heard it still wouldn't work on the v3m alltel monster. As for music, it's under the multimedia option in the menu, then sounds. It'll display your ringtones, you have to click option/switch storage device. But you have to format first since the file system for the card is different than for verizon. There is no syncing with wmp, but you can just drag and drop.... easiest way is with a card reader, format card in phone, then put card in reader and put all mp3's (they can be mp3's now) into the motorola/shared/audio folder. Then put back into phone and change over to the tf card for storage in sounds and they're all listed. They're in alphabetical order, if you put them into a playlist you'll have the option to shuffle them. If you don't have a card reader you can add music through MPT. I've heard it's kinda slow, but it works. Also you can do it with bluetooth if you have a bt dongle for your comp.
Ok, Now that I have my phone in good working order again... is there a way to make my own monster file that will backup the entire phone for easy restore? I have tried to use FlashBackup but I can't get it to recognize the phone.
Nope, no way to backup with a monster of sorts...u can just back up your data stuff like u did before flashing, but there isnt a way to fully restore the phone with the click of a button unfortunately.
Ok, I am not that impressed so far with the Alltel software. Really, I was expecting to get more features with this flash especially with all the hype I am seeing about everyone flashing their phones. Can anyone tell me for real why this is better? I still can't: Add applications (Java or Flash) Get any skins to function better than replacing the skins on the verizon soft (actually, I can't seem to get any custom skins to work at all, they just seem to change my wallpaper and colors, no big changes to my menus, icons, or screens though) and I have lost VCast Media Sync funtionality from Windows MP VZNavigator functionality The only benefits I saw were: Some features were unlocked natively (but could do this with seem edits on vzw) I am not trying to be a naysayer. I am ALL FOR getting the features you bought it for. So maybe I am just not getting it or I don't have it modified correctly to get the full functionality. Please let me know because I spent the entire night two days ago (11pm to 5:30am) getting this Alltel V3m monster to work and now that I have, I am debating going back to the Verizon FW. I would hate to do this (spend all that time flashing back to VZW) and then find out that there WERE features in the Alltel flash that I just didn't see or have setup (then spend 7 hours flashing back to Alltel again). There are just SOOO many threads/sites out there about this monster flash that there must be some REAL benefits to it (although after flashing, i can't see any). I have sifted through so many that I am totally lost.
Quoted from Mark Venture: Now, there is no way we were going to be able to add Java considering this firmware ALSO uses Brew technology. Skins can be added. In fact, see the screen shots I have attached of what you can do...you can get full icon main menus, rather than the stupid tab menus on the verizon firmware. Full bluetooth is wonderful. An improvement not listed is your battery will last 4 or 5 days on one charge..no way it did that on the verizon firmware. I begin to wonder which firmware u installed. Can u list the actual firmware version you installed?
Here. I copied and pasted the filename of the firmware I installed. ALT_V3M_01.1A.00R_PRIkk27390_MONSTER_01 You said "Full BlueTooth", would that be compatible with BT Stereo headsets for mp3 use? Or do I still need to use the wired headset or speakerphone? Also, there are so many skin sites out there and I keep getting confused on which ones are what... Some say V3x some say V3xx some just say V3. Where can I go for my V3m. The ones I see download the ski files and then talk about replacing /a/brew/system/mma files. I don't have that folder or mma files that I can see. Sorry to be such a pest but I have been going on this for a week with no help and finally stopped to ask for directions (cause my VZNavigator stopped mapping lol ) from the people who are using it happily.
From above: Bluetooth audio is A2DP, so no, no bluetooth audio for headphones. Gotta be wired. There are very few phones that support this. Ok, you have the correct monster file, so thats good. As for skins, you need skins for the Alltel firmware. Here is a link to the skins u can download -> http://darklodge.com/phonefiles/razr/skins/ All the skins on that site are for our phone. All those phones u listed are GSM phones, and their skins will not work on the CDMA razr. As for HOW TO install skins, all u need is right here -> http://wiki.howardforums.com/index....l_User_Interface#Get_a_custom_look_with_Skins
One thing I have to add is that there is now a vcast fix up on the monster guide. I haven't heard anyone having tried it, but it wouldn't be up there if it didn't work for someone. So, that's one thing to cross off your list of things you lost.
Mark has had that vcast fix on there from the beginning that he took from the original wiki, but even he said he doesnt think it works, and since he doesnt use vcast, he has no way to check it. I dont believe it will work b/c there are no trances of the vzw ui underneath the alltel firmware liek there was on the upgrade flash. so there is no way those files know what to reference to make vcast work, since there is no more underlying verizon firmware. However, if someone gets it working, please let us know. I would try, but i dont subscribe...and there prolly wouldnt be any sound, JUST video (much liek on the v3c upgrade flash)
I noticed that it said it was from the wiki, which I thought was weird. But I'm pretty sure it hasn't been on there since the beginning because it was not there when I used his guide to flash. I figured since it has been added since, that someone had figured something out. Oh well, I wouldn't use it anyway!
Pplease anybody please help me! I am trying to flash my RAZR v3m with the Alltel monster thingy and Im using Mark Ventura's tutorial but I cant find QPST v2.7 ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!! I've looked eerywhere and all i found was things where you had to pay w/ are not secure at all.....Please if anybody could help me find it or if you have it, please PM me the link..Oh and one question, after i flashed my phone, can I add skins the iPhone one?
You can add skins, just like the iPhone one. Don't know about QPST... is that freeware? If not, we can't link you to it. But I'd search for it as a torrent, if I were you.
I found it and got it to work, but not all he way... It didnt detect my phone.. it syays things like com1 com 2 things like that which are really confusing for me.
You might want to try unplugging and replugging in the phone. Or unplugging, cycling power, then replugging. If you just had the phone connected to another program the comp will see the phone as busy. When you have the window open to choose the port, try the unplugging and it should pop up as a choice to pick.
Can somebody please help me??? I've tried soo much to connect to QPST and it doesnt work!!!! i dont know what i am doing wrong and that is the only thing that is keeping me from flashing my V3m...I need help asap!!!
Okay..i FINALLY connected it to QPST..Now im in the backup process and it list's my phone number as another one...that is soo weird and It says something about base models and F something and things like that..i dont know what to do..
Okay I fixed that too.. I had Build 91..so i got Build 215.,.. now im in the Flashing part..first MultiFlashFlex detected my phone and i clicked start(after doing the things it said) and then it said it could'nt do it because my phone wasn't activated right or something like that i forget but then i tried again, but my device wasnt found.. Can anyody help me?
When I first clicked on the button to flash, it said it couldn't do it for some reason, something about.... eh, I forget. It TOTALLY freaked me out, but it worked no problem when I hit the button again. I'd try again, maybe cycle power on the phone, unplug and replug, restart the program... see if it'll go after that.
I TOTLLY MESED UP my phone. I successfully flashed to ALltel but it didn't work....no service no nothing...what did i have to do? But thn me being the stupidest person in the world just flashed back to the verizon firmware.. Do they charge me to activate my phone again?????
OKAY..i DECiDED TO FLASH BACK TO THE ALLTEL MONSTER FiRMWARE..AND iM TRYiNG TO ADD THE ERi FiLE BUT PST DOESNT DETECT MY PHONE.. i POWER CYCLED iT FOREVER AND iT STiLL DOESNT WORK...CAN ANYBODY HELP ME??
You might want to try downloading the newer drivers, some people had problems with some programs connecting or running properly, which was fixed by running new drivers. It might be in this thread, or someone can link to it... it was definitely mentioned in the alltel v3m monster flash thread over at www.hacktherazr.com. I'd run a search on this side for "motorola accessory" because I believe that's the title of the post where the person put up the new drivers.
is there a way i can subscribe to alltell if the arent a carrier in my area? would it be efficient to do such a thing?
