My phone is Verizon with the Alltel flash, and hers is T-Mobile the the regular T-Mobile firmware. I just sent her a picture message to see if MMS was working.

I just followed walkthroughs and Cincy's suggestions to get everything working, cause when I initially flashed it, all I could do was call and text. I had to call Verizon customer service and tell them Get-It-Now wasn't working so they would reset my data, and after that phone call, everything works like it should. I don't know if this helps you or not, though.

And yeah, the Verizon UI sucks. The Alltel one is much better.

Ja, both Benso and I have Verizon V3ms running Alltel V3m firmware. Polycat33 does as well. Yes, everything works, and I mean EVERYTHING. MMS, GIN, Text, Voice, WAP. Right off the bat it doesnt, just like if u flashed with cricket. I have never done it, but the reason the Alltel works is we had to do close to 50 seem edits, as well as verious other edits to point the newly "alltel-ed" phone, to Verizon data services. Otherwise, it would think it is on the alltel network, but still calls and text ok. For a while, nobody was able to get it to work, but there is a tutorial out linked to in one of the posts above, regarding how to.

So if I do the same, I could flash my fiancee's phone, and possibly my new Sprint RED RAZR if I get one today to the Alltel V3m firmware and change the settings so that everything works with cricket? like mms and the internet?

Another question, since its 50 bucks to flash a phone's service from like sprint or verizon or alltel to Cricket (50 bucks for motorola phones), is there a way I could just do it myself?

Ja, if u have a Sprint V3m, and use it on the Sprint network, u cannot flash it to alltel or verizon. verizon and alltel are interchangeable, but sprint is not. Now if u are just buying the red sprint to use on verizon, then u can flash it with the alltel and activate it with verizon and be fine

everyone here is flashing on their own, for free. The programs are "free" and the flash files are available. The programs can be downloaded, but links cannot be given out publicly b/c they are copywrighted, and it is illegal to distribute that info on this site, or any other...technically.

Well I'd be using the Sprint phone on the cricket network. Can it still be flashed over to the Alltel Firmware and run on the Cricket network?

Hm, I would assume if they charged you for the flash they should have fixed your mms!

I was on verizon firmware, and verizon service, and flashed according to mark ventures guide and I have all my data services working (in 1x - I didn't back up a file that is necessary to get data working in EV), so it's possible, but I've never heard of cricket so I don't know if you'll be able to find others out there who may be able to help since it sounds like it may be a small company?

As for flashing your phones to the alltel monster... you may not be able to get mms working on the phones when you flash because you'll need mms working now in order for the backups you make to cause mms to work on the flash. I may be wrong, but I do'nt know how much help you'll be able to find on a cricket phone so...???

I'm not talking about a firmware flash, I'm talking about a phone service change flash. Taking a phone like an alltel phone, like my v3c alltel phone, and flashing it into cricket, so I use my cricket service on it instead of alltel. Or my fiancee's phone, being a verizon v3m but on the cricket service. When you do that, its not fully flashed over. only text, and phone services work, if you send a picture message, it says the server cannot be found or some :censored: like that.

This is what happens when I click New MMS Message:
It just sticks to Sending... 0% then after a while it says Message 50: Unable to send. Resend now?

I'm still not sure what a MMS Is... but.. lemme try sending a photo. Says the same thing.

Also when you have a flashed phone, you can't recieve picture messages, you get a text with a link to a cricket site to view the photo online.

Maybe cricket doesn't do MMS? I don't know enough about it, but I guess it would make sense.

It kinda just sounds to me like their provider flashes suck! I mean, with all the flashing people do around here with their verizon phones over to alltel, the data CAN be fixed, so unless the providers you are switching to and from have very different ways of doing data, it SHOULD BE POSSIBLE to get that stuff back. I mean, you can do pix messaging on phones you buy from them, most likely, so there has to be a way to get pix messaging on a phone you didn't get from them. Just like verizon customers can get pix messaging on their alltel firmware. You have to configure a websession and then associate that web session with mms in the setup area. Have you asked the cricket people about the possibility of getting mms (which is multimedia messaging, like pix and videos) working on your phone? I'd call them and see what they say, becuase it would be best for them to allow you to, they make money off that stuff...

What do you mean no such thing? They don't have picture/video messaging, or they don't have customer service, or they don't have GOOD customer service?

I've followed this thread since it was just a few posts large. I read the entire thread regarding the subject at the Howard forums and I've read Mark Venture's guide. I'm about 99% ready to attempt the flash, but one thing is holding me back: VZ Navigator. I've read that the maps work, but what about the GPS navigation part?

I was actually about to ask about VZ Navigator. I started the free trial on it a few days ago after flashing to Alltel, and it hasn't been able to locate me. It always says, "Could not process your request. Please try again. (15)". And yes, I have my location setting on.

Has it worked for anyone else?

From what I've gathered the Navigator program still has maps but the GPS function is disabled.

Did you get the free trial when you flashed to the Verizon V3M Monster flash first? Also how long is the demo?

    It's no fun without GPS....

I didn't even use the demo when I had the Verizon software. I downloaded it after I flashed to Alltel, and I think it lasts 2 weeks.

About VZ Nav, it doesnt work on Alltel flash. You can download the trial version (10 days i believe). It will work with maps, but the GPS function does not work. Therefore, u can find an address, but since it cannot fdind ur location, it cannot give u directions to a site. It will show the map so u can navigate yourself. Thats why I say it DOESNT work.

Yeah, that's why it's no fun.

About the trial period, I downloaded it two days ago (Jan 3) and it's scheduled to expire on Jan 17, so it should be 14 days. But yeah. It doesn't matter since I can't really use it, anyway.

Just wanted to sound off as another successful flasher. I went from a Verizon V3m (stock phone) to the Alltel V3m. This was my first ever flash and took me about 2 1/2 hours, but had no problems along the way (following Mark_Venture's guide and the thread at HoFo to the "T"). Thus far, everything that has been expected to work is. Web/GIN/MMS/EVDO/etc. I'm still going through everything, but thus far I'm happy.

So u were able to back up the cdma_sec file and apply that to the Mobile IP fix to get data working on EVDO?

Yup. Just followed the section in Mark Venture's guide. I never manually switched to 1X after flashing. In fact, I simply followed every section/step in the guide before I did anything else.

The hardest part, for me, was getting the Web Session back up and running from my pre-flash RTT Browser file backup. I had to download the sample file because, for some reason, my backups that I loaded didn't work. There were just a couple fields that were different (not sure why), but once I matched them to the sample file, everything was fine.

This morning I made myself a new skin (not a Theme, but a full SKIN) and loaded it to the phone without a single problem. I really love the UI feel now that it's not stuck with the Verizon bars. Hehehe. :browani:

Cool. Good work. Yea, I was among the initial flashers who didnt know about the cdma_sec backup beforehand. SO if I want evdo data, i need to flash back to vzw, get data working, back up the file, then flash back to alltel. Too much work just to have ebdo data, where i dont really need evdo anyways. I dont use vcast, and i keep myt phone in 1x mode to save battery life, plus i am always using DUN. Oh well, its nice to know for the phones i flash in the future for people, that it can be fixed

As for skins, just make sure whatever skin u put on the phone, that is AFTER the Moto skin. The reason is, if u put a skin on the phone that DOESNT have icons built into it, it will rely on the skin in the FIRST position alphabetically. So if u install the Bezl skin, since it doesnt contain its own icons, it will look to the first spot. Since it would be alphabetically first, your icons will gte messed up/not show up, etc. The way to remedy this is to put a copy of the dafualt moto skin, and rename it something liek "A Moto". That way, it will ALWAYS be first, so any custom skin, if it doesnt have its own icon set, it will just use the default ones. I took it a step further and once I got the A Moto skin in there, I deleted the Moto one off the phone. You need to delete it with p2kcommander, BitPim wont allow access to it.

But at any rate, good work. Let me know if any of this is confusing.

Is there amongst all the relevant forums (to include this one) a consolidated Monster Flash (Verizon to Alltel) NCR_01.1A.00R walkthrough? (For Verizon Razr V3M)

As I read the various posts it appears it is somewhat disjointed which leads to errors and confusion.

I am hesitant to try and start flashing only to enter a labyrinth.

1SGL, yes there is complete success. Data working on both 1x and EVDO. Originally, EVDO data didnt work, u could only use MMS, GIN, WAP at 1x. This fix JUST came out days ago. And u need to backup a file from the verizon firmware before flashing, so i am outta luck unless i wanna flash back to get it, then back to alltel again, and im not sure i wanna do that, just for evdo data. I was ready to release a Wireless Advisor version of the walkthru, but with the advent of getting data to work with EVDO, i feel i should include this in the tutorial, so that has pushed things back. The wait will be wellll worth it, just hang in there ;)

It is quite amazing that these folks have figured it ALL out. EVERYTHING works, with the exception of VZNavigator's GPS.

    I used this site: http://mark.cdmaforums.com/Monster1.htm

    Hope that helps.

Edit: After reading Cincy's post, I checked, and Mark Venture's walkthrough does have instructions for making EVDO work. I flashed before they were there, so I haven't followed that section of the walkthrough or anything, but I think it's pretty likely that it's accurate.

Thanks, Cincyball, I shall bide my time. I am not so eager to get this done that I am willing to venture out without a roadmap.

Thanks for putting up with the oldpharts....

Is your road map. There's no need to wait, I can assure you that this site walked me through every step of the process and helped me get everything working with out ANY issues. I highly recommend using it when you flash, and since it's already up and ready to go (with the most recent updates as well) you don't have to wait for another guide.

Poly, he was hoping for a guide with screen shots, and that is what I am compiling. But yea, that is the backbone and what we all worked from.

I also used the link Benso supplied. It really isn't bad as long as you follow it STEP BY STEP. I took my time (thus it took roughly 2.5 hours), but I never had to backtrack or start anything over. I also had virtually no hassel getting everything working.

And Cincy, thanks for the tip regarding the skin! Lucky for me mine started with a 'T'. It's good to know for the future, however.

That guide has some screenshots, and I felt like those were the only points where I really needed them, but I guess if other people want more then they should wait.

Have been away for awhile (job change and PC down due to weather problems). Has there been anything posted on a guide for this monster flash?
