    V3m FLASH Alltel 1.1A
    Wireless Provider(s):
    Verizon Wireless
This is a monster flash! I can confirm a successful flash. I'm making and recieving both text and calls after a *228

Noteworthy stuff so far: There is a file named alltel.gif located in a/mobile that acts the same as verizon.gif on the outer LCD. I don't remember that being on the 4.06 V3c firmware. I jsut deleted it and now it shows the blue/purple "M" like before.

The banner is blank after loading firmware. It can be added or changed in the phone settings. No seem edit to remove Verizon Wireless is needed. However I'm limited to 12 characters instead of 16. If somebody know a way to fix this that would be helpful.

Unlike the V3c 4.06 Monster flash, there is no roaming triangle or "Alltel Extended" indicator after flashing. However I still loaded my Verizon ERI.

Stephen, your MMS is working as well? Please make sure ALLLL data features are working. I have tried this and I cannot use MMS and WAP. This poses the similar problem as the V3C Monster file did. I think I can fix it. I plan on flashing back to the Verizon Monster to get all my data back, then backing up my MMS file with PST 7.2.5, then it shoudl work. Let me know what steps you needed to do to regain your MIN, MDN, MMS, GIN, ERI, PRL, etc.

Ok, I dont know what all those features are that were posted. But here's just an overview. My girl's Verizon v3m was flashed from a mobile store into the cricket service so she can keep her unlimited minuts, we live in the city so we dont really need to worry about service out of town. So all she uses is her text messaging and phone. I want her phone able to accept bluetooth... So I can transfer files to her phone from mine. She uses her media player, but I'm sure that will probably go bye bye with the alltel flash.. she has to be able to use her sd and play all her music. mp3 or wma, I dont care. But there ya go. IF all works, YAY! I allready told her and she's happy and anxious, The Verizion ____ really pisses her off. The red bars, how slow the phone is... and the inability to do some things.

Wel, since this is a V3M flash, it will retain all the V3M features, including Media player, tf card, etc. The good news if for some reason it didnt work, or even crazier, she didnt liek it, there is stock firmware we can flash back to just liek she had purchased it minutes before :D

Im still backing up all my files, but I will be re-trying the flash in about an hour or so.

Not yet. This thing is a huge PITA. The v3c upgrade flash took me 2 hours to do. This one has me on 12 hours... The good thing is the phone is functional. The bad thing is, there is no GIN, MMS, or WAP. Calls and Text are fine. All phone features are good. TF card works, bluetooth, so its just those 3 data services. I am still playin with it. I know we will get it, some have it all working. It is just tough b/c this flash removes EVERYTHING related to Verizon. So we need to change any and all Alltel directories and point them to Verizon directories. As soon as it is done, I will definitely post a walk thru.

The phone features work, such as bluetooth, motorola ui, transfalsh. The only things that arent working are Get It Now, MMS Messaging, and Vcast. To me, that doesnt matter b.c I dont use them. Calls and Text messaging work fine as expected. I have gone back to Verizon software now trying to get all the data features working again, then making one last go around. If I were u, i would wait until we come up with a fool proof process. It is just a matter of time, and probably max of 2 weeks before it is completely figured out.

    Cincy,
another great thread, get down fellas!
so again my story is I just purchased two pink v3m s for my 6 yr old twin daughters and I wouldn't mind at all them not having access to get it now or texting, etc.... I would like more control of what options are shown on the menu to keep them and my pocket book out of trouble. I haven't spoken much to Verizon CS, rare to find the people who know... but when I was forced to speak with one of them I asked about blocks on minute usage and the outlook was not so good.
Probably will wait on this until the process is established, I'm still green on flashing... does it include still using seem edit to turn features on and off? I'll have to explore some more.
Thanks again, and keep up the great work. I look forward to your future posts!

Flashing is a whooooole nother animal. We are removing the software from the phone, and putting another carriers software on. So in tis instance, Alltel Wireless's software is AWESOME. It doesnt have the ugly red layout the verizon uses. The menus are super fast. There is full bluewtooth founctions (such as transferring files between phones..eliminating need for programs liek MPT). Battery life last longer. Custom skins. The problem is, we need to make it work with verizon network. Thats the dilemma im runnign into. Just now am I making advancements. So anyone reading this thread, once I have success, I will post all the pros and cons. I will take pictures of how the phone looks, etc. And then will post a walk thru if anyone wants to do it. Stay tuned.

My post of awhile back notwithstanding I shall await this flash. From what you are saying this solves most of what irritates us Verizon users....I this gives me a fully functional V3M I will be one happy old geezer.

I'm still waiting for a walkthrough. I cannot make any mistakes on flashing my wifey's phone. I spent too much on that damn thing to screw it up.

flash back to vzw v3m monster. open qpst and click "save to file" this automaticly saves prl eri etc basicly everything. flash to alltel v3m monster and open qpst and click load from file. it will load this to your phone. you should then dial *228 opt 1 and 2. apply data fixes and axcess gin. you should get a unable to retrieve catalog(554) call cs and have them reset your data. gin wap and mms worked for me:)

ps: the files name will be your esn number:)

Huh? This is why I will wait until a walkthrough is out in some fashion.

Too many years, too much gray hair and no "sense" of computer tech.

i have no sence in computer tech? its not that hard to do and if you dont want the v3m go with the v3c monster it doesnt take a rocket scientist....

edit- this walkthrough has been out for a while and i dont see you flashing...

The thread on this Monster Flash this forum started on 21Dec which is the date of the last mod on your referenced wiki. Cincyball is working to tweak that announced Monster specifically for the V3M crowd and not the V3C. As the referenced wiki refers to a work in progress I am as I said waiting until Cincyball gets back to this forum with what has been worked out and tested. I prefer table d'hote and not ala carte or pot luck.

Aah, I've read so many pages of threads on various forums about this, and I haven't found a step-by-step guide that makes me comfortable enough to go through with it. I guess I'll just keep checking back here periodically until somebody comes up with one or something.

Ha, and all I really want is to be able to transfer files through bluetooth....

I'm also anxiously awaiting cincyball to re-emerge from the wilderness with the walkthrough, complete with screen shots. Untill then I think I'll leave things alone.

Ok, well yes, I have been on a hiatus...hanging out in punta cana for the holidays. This is the first time I have been able to sit for a few mins. I successfully flashed 2 different v3m's to the Alltel V3M firmware. Everythng works. The only problem is it only works on 1x network. So we need to have evdo disabled. If you NEED evdo for some reason, u wont be able to use GIN, MMS, or WAP. But if you have no prob leaving your phone is 1x mode always, your phone will work 100%

When I get back, I will post the tutorial I followed. There a few small thigs I did differently, but will be happy to post what I followed. All of the credit goes to a handful of people that pulled everything together. Again, after the new year I will release a "wireless advisor tutorial"

So are you just saying that as of now, you have to use 1x to be able to use GIN, MMS, and WAP? Or you're unable to use them at all?

    What does GIN mean, anyway?

1x works. EVDO does not (at least at present).

    Get-It-Now.

Cincy, since my fiancee's Verizon V3m was flashed to cricket so she can keep her free minutes, when I flash the firmware onto her phone, it her phone wont have to be reflashed to cricket would it? or can I do that?
