I just got a V3a RAZR & would like to connect it to my computer. Is the best tool the Motorola Phone Tools? I'd like to download ringtones & wallpapers, backup my phone book, etc. Where is the least expensive place to download MPT? Does the MPT download have the drivers I need? Thanks for the help.
Had a similar problem but fixed it quick. For the Razr V3A black/gray I eventually called Motorola because non of those hacks/seems/drivers/pk2 stuff worked for me. Simply put they didn't give out the Newest version of the Mobile Phone Tools CD when they gave out the phones! For the Razr V3A to work it must have MPT version 4.5.6 (which is not even available thru thier website unless you want to purchase it). I would advise any new buyers to contact Motorola who will send you a direct link to download the new version. File titled: 4.5.6aeng After you download it It still will not find the phone automatically. Do the Manual install Use/choose: Motorola USB Modem Device: Motorola CDMA Model: L7cm Should work like a dream!!! Hope this helps. It only took me 17 downloads and 2 weeks worth of hunting to get it right!!
Yeah I emailed Motorola tech support 2 times and got autoreplys that they would be back to me within 1-2 business days. 3-4 WEEKS later they did with info similar to above. By that time I had harassed the guy I bought it from on EBAY until he told me how to fix it. I reminded him that he represented himself as an expert on his EBAY ad! You can buy legitimate copies on EBAY with shipping for less than $10 including the necessary cable. I got a copy via EBAY download on sale for about $2 during Thanksgiving, but I already owned a cable. I just bought 100 legitimate copies with OEM cables for less than $0.50 each. We plan to sell to our customers for $20. Motorola sells for $39.99 on their website with cable PLUS shipping. I is a great piece of software and if you also owned the older cable that fits V60's, V710's, E815's, etc you can copy your phonebook free in MOST instances that I have tried.
I HAD to join this forum to say that the above info worked like a charm!! After many attempts to hook up my V3a this one worked....NOW my only question is once I use this phone tools and get mp mp3 sound byte on my phone how do I get my phone to let me apply that mp3 in my sounds location to let me apply it as a ringtone???? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Motorola Software Updater (MSU) is your best bet. It comes with the latest software for your mobile, latest drivers for your PC, and enables P2K to work with your phone for uploading and hacking. I have tried this and still can't get it to work. I am not cell phone literate or computer literate so can you help me and put this in dingy terms? LOL
