FutureMD, Folkston is only showing Hwy 40 around Colerain community. One Kingsland site is showing just west of Kingsland on Hwy 40 and the othe Kingsland (the new one) will be between I-95 and 17 just south of Kinlaw. The Woodbine site is between Woodbine and Colesburg. The one in St Mary's is right at the airport. This one looks as though it is already and, but they are doing some antenna changes on that site. The new one east of Kingsland might help your dad since he is just east of that site. Sorry I can't give you lat/lons of the towers (policies and stuff), but this should give you the general vicinity. Hope this helps
Thanks a lot, Gadget. That really helps out a lot. Just FYI, a great place for a new tower in Camden County would be out on Point Peter Rd. or New Point Peter Rd, near the North River Causeway. A development called Cumberland Harbor is being built on the Point Peter peninsula. There will be 18 holes of golf and at least 800 homes. It will be really exclusive. Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Clint Eastwood have all bought lots on the water already due to the availability of deep water access. I don't know if you could put a bug in someone's ear, but it would definitely be a good move on Alltel's part! Verizon already has a tower out there on the peninsula. It was one of the old Cellular One towers that was converted. I live out there, and my dad gets two bars digital max (that's on the second story or standing outside) and two bars analog max on the first story of my house. I think it might be due to the dense oak tree canopy because as soon as you leave my subdivision and come out from underneath the trees, he can get four bars. I just thought I would drop a hint to someone inside the corporation because the little sales girls at our store really don't give a hoot.
Gadget, I know this is off topic, but why doesn't Alltel carry LG or Samsung phones? I would really like to buy the LG 4400 full retail from Verizon or get one off e-Bay. The only thing stopping me is I'm not sure I could get the Brew services working with the phone. I hate the two color phones that Alltel currently offers. Do you know of anything new coming out phone wise? Brad
Does anyone happen to know if ALltel is ever gonna cover I-65 south of Castleberry to Baldwin County, still nothing but analog.
JFR3021, Here is the best I could find since I am not real familiar with AL. Conecuh Co: Evergreen and Evergreen W should be digital now Castleberry 10/03 Wallace analog (nothing on the books yet) Escambia Co: Brewton 12/03 Atmore,Atmore DT,Atmore East all 12/03 Flomaton analog (nothing on the books) There is some digital being upgraded in the Carolinas that as of last conversation is to be moved to areas of AL. Haven't heard anything in the last few weeks, but the equipment is being removed now and stored in our warehouse. Sorry I couldn't be anymore specific of I-65. It looks as though some of these should help you there except for Wallace.
