I think USCC is buying Ramcell in North Carolina soon so that problem should go away someday.. Verizon is suppose to get Ramcell in Kentucky, not sure abouth the northwest US Ramcell.
When USCC or Verizon picks up Ramcell, then I'll be able to take SID 1518 from lockout on my phone. Alltel users would be able to roam for free on it. I believe the small TN spectrum near Sevierville belongs to the NC system, as it is still 1518. ... On either side of the Smokeys NP, Ramcell coverage did exist, but but nothing elsewhere. Also, When I went to the Smokeys on back in late Dec 06, i was barely able to get a Verizon(139) signal at Newfound Gap, at 5000 feet. I got 1 incoming call successfully up there, and it lasted 40 seconds. But then when i hung up, it went back to no signal until i got out of the park, into Cherokee. Nowhere else in the Smokeys did I get a signal.
