Alltel is getting Cellular One of Amarillo. They currently use GSM. Alltel currently has PCS network that they currently use in that market due to the Western Wireless buyout.

Awesome. ALLTEL is expanding every day, all while becoming more and more customer oriented it seems.

A Friend of mine found this in the Amarillo Globe...

Alltel, the nation's fifth-largest wireless carrier, has entered into an agreement to purchase Cellular One of Amarillo. "The sale is just pending," Cellular One spokeswoman Kim May said. "There are still steps to be taken. But we expect this to happen sometime in the third quarter of 2006."

When the sale closes, Cellular One customers will be connected to the nation's largest wireless network. "Right now there are no changes," May said. "But what customers will see in the future are benefits - different features, better airtime plans, lower prices."

In January 2005, Alltel acquired Western Wireless in a $6 billion sale. "This transaction will add another property in Amarillo and complement what we're already doing there," Alltel vice president Andrew Moreau said. Alltel, headquartered in Little Rock, Ark., serves a population of 72 million in 36 states.
