hi, i'm in the spot in where i'm looking for a new phone. i currently have service with Alltel so the question is...does anyone out there owns or currently have a Alltel BlackBerry Pearl 8130 phone? is the connection good? web browsing? what are the bads and goods you like about this phone. I went over to the Alltel store the other day and was messing around with it a bit to see the features and etc....it looks great and with the keys it would be much easier to text to people. now is it worth $500 dollars?give me your thoughts...

    thanks

I like the PPC6800. I currently use it. But the Touch Pro may come to Alltel since Verizon and Sprint are getting it and it looks to be a better phone.

My opinion: NO phone is worth $500. If you are getting a BB because it's easier to text on, then I guess I see your priority there, but I think they are a out of whack.

I wouldn't purchase a smartphone unless there was a legitimate need for it. Texting isn't that sort of need.

    Hey, you asked for opinions.......

And I disagree. I love my phone since I can do so much with it. It is like a physical extension of my computer too.

Sure...and if you have a business need for it, it makes sense. To get a smartphone because it's easier to use it for texting...well, that's silly and a huge waste of money.

I see kids in Junior/Senior High with smartphones and I just wonder why? They have ZERO need for a phone like that.

It makes Alltel money? I thought you would appreciate that. :p

Actually though I do use it for browsing the web especially with Opera Mobile. It makes sites seem like I am surfing the web on a desktop. So I use my phone for texting, data, and e-mail. I don't need it but I use it. Plus I like playing with things too.
