BASKING RIDGE, N.J., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless announced today that all of its CDMA 1x Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) network nationwide has been enhanced to Revision (Rev.) A technology. The enhancements throughout the company's wireless broadband network provide customers from coast to coast with access to e-mail, everyday corporate data, the Internet and more at faster speeds and the ability to upload files eight to nine times faster than before. "Earlier this year, we announced we were making the nation's first wireless broadband network even better by significantly improving network speeds and performance," said Dick Lynch, executive vice president and chief technical officer for Verizon Wireless. "In just the first two quarters of this year, we made that pledge a kept promise. When other carriers still operate networks that don't allow customers to download music over-the-air or access e-mail at speeds faster than dial-up, Verizon Wireless is meeting the needs of more than 210 million people with wireless music downloads, faster access to e-mail and true wireless broadband Internet browsing." The enhanced network allows Verizon Wireless customers to download files at speeds as much as ten times faster than customers of other wireless service providers that use different broadly deployed network technologies...."
Do you think Verizon would ever price tier according to speed? For example: 5GB's REV 0: $ 30 per month 5GB's REV A: $50 per month or bundle in the areas they provide home service....... 3.0 Mbps DSL + 3GB's EVDO for $65 per month 5.0 Mbps FiOS + 3GB's EVDO for $ 65 per month I'm sure if they could get rid of Vodafone, they'd be able to roll these types of plans much easier. I could be wrong.
VZW's plans have not been always the worst and will not always be the worst. It all depends on your needs and how you look at things. Verizon offered their Unlimited IN Texting plans for...what is it now...over a year before Cingular offered something similar? Verizon introduced Unlimited Text to anyone before Cingular. Sure, VZW may be slower on the gimmicks such as early nights, but obviously users don't really need that, otherwise Verizon's churn would be higher and they'd sign up fewer customer.s
I don't think you will see that. VZW has tiered pricing between 1x and EVDO I think, but I don't think we will see tiered pricing depending on speed. Verizon just lowered their data prices for non-VZW customers who want to get a Verizon aircard to $59.99 from $79.99.
the thing is though with like sprints unlimtied texting you can add it to any line for like 10$, verizon who have to add it to the hole plan and it cost a lot more especially if you only have like one person who needs it
Is the $ 10 Sprint charges just for text or does it also include unlimited pix, flix, and instant messaging?
(Weren't you banned on HoFo? I guess you found a new "home.") I do, however, agree that VZW's plans are the worse. That said, VZW will never change until/unless people begin voting with their wallets. It's no different than living in NYC with its high-rise, high prices for minimum space. People accept that they should pay a certain price because they are supposedly getting superior quality and pretty much allow these companies to dictate the market. VZW customers or customers in general need to become (more) educated consumers and begin voting will their wallets and demanding better pricing or more features for what they pay. With VZW's prices we should have 6pm/7pm nights and truly unlimited data.
Verizon's data plans are on par with other carrier's offerings. Sprints is so much cheaper if you sign up for their Sero plans which you have to be an employee of get the discount another way. What gets me is people switch to sprint to save 20-30 dollars a month yet have to roam on verizon's network. I'd rather poney the money up front and get great service and coverage. I shouldn't have to call retentions because regular c/s stinks at sprint. Just my two cents.
Verizon is such a poor choice though for many data users including myself with that stupid and LOW 5GB monthly data limit. Alltel and Sprint offer EVDO at the same $60 monthly rate but with both of those you get unlimited usage unlike Verizon.
The first and ONLY month I had Verizon's EVDO service I used about 10 GB. They canceled me in the first month of service that I had with them for going over the stated 5 GB limit. Boo Verizon! :thumbsdow
That sucks. I did cancel my wired ISP, but my company now decided to pay for it so I re-hooked it back up. I use my aircard while away from home or the office. I barely use 2GB max on my card and that's using it everyday.
While I agree that the limit completely sucks and Verizon should not have a limit, just like the other carriers don't, 5 GB is enough data per month if you use your service for what Verizon "Allows" you to use it, namely Web surfing and downloading small email attachments. Not to blame you for doing more than that or defending Verizon, because VZW is really stingy.
I had a laugh..the rep told me that streaming internet radio was allowed. I have Sirrus sat radio and I listen to it on my PC all the time. Isn't it against the TOS?
