So I checked the Airave Coverage tool on Sprint's website and it says the area I am traveling to does not support the Airave. I have never brought my Airave anywhere before, so I didn't realize this was even a problem. Why is the Airave not usable in all markets? Is Airave available in my area? And Sprint says: Not yet... While we are rapidly expanding the coverage areas for Airave, that ZIP code is not currently eligible for Airave service. We apologize for any inconvenience. :loony::loony::loony:
That's a good question. Sprint does have nationwide licenses. In some areas, affiliates operate using those licenses. One recently featured by press release was Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel), a Sprint PCS affiliate of Sprint Nextel. (http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/s...-shenandoah-expands-coverage-york-county.html) So what ZIPcode did you enter, and what city/town, (county) and state was it? COtech
I don't quite understand the reasoning either. The Airave isn't permitted in Sedona/Flagstaff AZ either. It is an area that was formerly an affiliate market, but is now owned by Sprint. I see no real reason why they shouldn't be allowed there.
The airave SHOULD work anywhere in the US, but some regions just are not set up for it (mainly affiliate areas). Take it with you anyway, and if it works, it works. You never know how outdated that information is.
Even though Sprint bought out Alamosa PCS a while ago they never really decided to treat it as one of their own like they did when they bought Ubiquitel here in CA. They own and operate the network but still treat it like it's an affiliate. It is odd. Also like Yankees mentioned you never know how outdated online info might be so it can't hurt to give it a shot.
