I just got a new phone and it will be a pain to add in over 400 contacts from my old phone to my new Motorola Silver Razr v3m. I was wondering if there is some way to add contacts to my phone from my computer using a program or something. Thanks for any help!

I am waiting for my V3M to arrive but I did research since being in the same boat as you. I see on the Motorola V3M page that with the MPT Tools you can do that and also mentions something about Contact Sync. Second it might be worth the $15 to have a Verizon store do the transfer.

Big Dawg 23 is correct. If you plan on doing anything else with phone, ie.. calendar, txt message, multimedia, you might be interested in getting the Motorola Phone Tools (MPT) software. It comes with a cable.

There is also some free software called BitPim. You will have to buy a cable, though.

Some people use both of these products.

Also Windows Media Player, can move songs over to your phone.

You should also get the 1gb transFlash SD card. SD has come out with a 2gb card, but I have not heard of anyone testing it yet for the V3m.

Hi, I have a Mac and used iSync to download my contacts and calendar to the phone. Problem is, you can't control which overwrites the other. The phone always seems to overwrite the computer even when the computer has more or newer info. Most of the time the sync erases all but the phone numbers in my computer address book. Quite annoying! (In other words, if my computer has phone number, street address, etc. but the phone only has phone number, the street address will be erased from the computer's address book.)

To get around that, I've manually deleted all contacts from my phone before doing a sync. This is a problem if you have a lot of contacts, and I don't know of any way to do a delete of all contacts at once.

Also need to find out if Verizon is ever going to let us download files besides contacts, such as our own ringtones.

Yes, for a price. But I am like you, everyone else allows it for free.

You can also go to some of the free websites and get ringtones or other files.

If you had a PC and got Motorola Phone Tools, you could create your own and then upload thm to the phone.

I do have a pc laptop and downloaded BitPim and a driver. I already have a USB cable that works with it (came with my camera). Windows sees the phone, and BitPim gives Phone Info. The first time I ran it, it detected the phone and allowed me to upload wallpaper files. But then it stopped working. It will no longer detect the phone. I tried restarting the phone, the PC, reconnecting the cable, and BitPim still won't detect it.

I've been using V3cm for the phone model since there's no V3m, but nothing else I tried works either.

Try shutting the phone off, then connect it. Let it install drivers if need be. If it starts charging, leave it off and try to connect to BitPim that way.
