Hello, new guy on the block here. Ive been eyeing the 5300 Sanyo and I think Im going to jump on it. Got a few questions though. First off...how does it compare to the LG 5250 I Have now? Im fairly satisfied with that phone but I need the camera and some of the other features of the 5300. The 5250 has serious difficulty with the signal here in Tampa FL,but then I think that is just crappy service here since my old 6035 Kyocera did the same thing, while it was almost perfect in Kansas. Secondly, how is the image quality of the digicam? I dont need something great but Ive seen some pictures that are supposedly taken with it on ebay that look pretty good for what I want, here is one that is floating around there... http://images.auctionhelper.com/images/kevin@1800spamboy.com/cameraphone/sprintgirl2.jpg Finally is there any bundled software or cable to connect it to your PC? How is the web browser,is it like the RSA browser on the 5250 and 6035? And how is battery life,I talk just about every night on my phone to someone cross country and we talk for about 2-3 hours before I have to swap batteries. Sorry for so many questions but 320.00 is for me ALOT to spend on a phone even with my ever increasing gadget budget! I am only justifying it because this way I wont have to buy a separate camera, and because it has an almost PDA like functionality to it.
Where did you find that price, and is it only with new account? The best I've found w/o new acct is on Circuit City's web site.
I got mine from Amazon.com $400 up front, but $250 after (2) rebates. FYI Just got it 30 minutes ago and it's wonderful.
No its not new activation. Its a seller on ebay one of my co workers bought from. Dood... ebay is the place for everything Can someone answer my Q's? I really like this little phone. EDIT:BTW... FroBozz is that Jessica Alba in your profile pic?
I tried the LG5350 and the signal strength was pitiful compared to the then-current Samsung 8500. I've heard a lot of complaints about LG reception, and a lot of kudos for Sanyo 4900's performance. I switched and it did indeed do a LOT better! The candy-bar style phones seem to do a lot better when signal strength is a concern. I hated to forgoe the sexy LG phone, but it did everything well but be a phone (and that's what I needed most). Unfortunately, the 4900 doesn't have a built-in camera, nor an attachable camers (yet).
Hey guys does either of you know about the AIM thing? I really dont know if I will want to get this cool little phone if it doesnt work the same way with AIM my old one used to ("WIRELESS WEB>MESSAGING>AIM>SIGN ON"). I really do need the AIM functionality... Thx!
the lg 5250 is up there with some of the worst reception phones i have seen. for examples of the sanyo camera pics goto www.sprintusers.com under message forums and then the PCS VISION topic is a thread dedicated to examples volunteered by spcs cam users. or this link may work http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=2 the 5300 should help your signal situation but it really depends on your issue. if the network is simply not strong enough in the area the 5300 cant create signal out of nothing. but give it something to work with and it will do worlds better than that LG. myself i live in a basement of a family home. i got a 1 bar signal with my n400 and it broke up and dropped calls quite often for the brief time I had it. switched to a 5300 and while my signal meter is usally on the low end I have yet to drop a call and use my phone like a landline (which it pretty much is I dont use my parent's phone and I have a cable modem so my pcs phone is my main line) so if you go with a sanyo just be careful with the phone in the 2 week return period because if it doesnt solve your problems then you can return it, and when your contract is up if sprint hasnt put up more towers in your area then you can decide on your next step whether that be a new carrier.
Thanks for the reply. My Sprint PCS phone is my main phone also. I got rid of my landline months ago when I realized I was getting Voicemail,Caller ID,Unlimited NW and Unlimited PCS to PCS for next to nothing. I used the old landline phone money to pay for my Cable Modem haha. As long as there is SOME program out there to work with AIM ill be a happy camper,I am already realizing this phone is going to take care of so many different issues for me.
as someone else posted elsewhere you can see straight from the horses mouth that AIM will be available straight from vision shortly. http://www.aim.com/wireless/sprint/ most likely around this same time the vision AOL portal will also be available for paying AOL subscribers to check mail and use AOL services. if you do get a vision phone type in this URL on your browser and bookmark it. www.sprintusers.com/wap it is the best wap portal i have found for vision phones. tons of useful links. enjoy.
