    Hi,

I love my A530 except that sometimes it echos. The first phone did this and I thought it was the phone so I exchanged it...but the second is doing the same thing. Sometimes it's really bad, although the other person cannot hear it, and sometimes it's only a little. Is this verizon service or is the phone just extremely sensitive? Does any of you A530 owners out there ever have this problem? I think for the phone this price, echoing shouldn't be an option [IMG] Anyway, any suggestions as always will be very welcomed!

Echoes are frequently network (in your case Verizon), not phone, related. Do you hear your voice echoing or is it the person you are talking to? Do the echoes only happen at cetrain times of the day (peak usage times perhaps) or only in certain locations?

It usually echos in certain places but even in my house with pretty good reception, if I turn the earpiece volume all the way up, I can hear some echo. I usually hear my own voice and the other person doesn't hear any echo at all- what does this mean (compared to if i hear the other person) ? I am hoping it's not the phone

Thanks so much for your input!

It's not a matter of good reception or not, I think it is usually caused by too many people connected to a tower at once. For example, on Mother's Day I had echoes on my Verizon phone for the first time ever...and lots of people make calls that day so it is more than likely that the network was overcrowded. Different phones may make a difference, but most likely they will not help if the problem is network related. I notice you say you recently switched from Sprint to Verizon. How long ago? Have you heard echoes the entire time you have been with Verizon? If so, it is most likely that the network in your area is causing the problems and any Verizon phone might give you echoes. Also, try turning your earpiece volume down, as loud earpieces sometimes cause echoes, though usually that results in the person you are talking hearing their own voice because the microphone on the phone is picking up the earpiece speaker.

Since you are on your second phone with echoes, I think your best choices are to take this one back and say it is doing the same thing and exchanging it for a different model or call customer service to report the echoes and ask them to investigate any possible problems with the network in your area. Your other choice would be to just get used to the echoes, though that could be very hard to do!

verizon puts devices at all their towers to elimiate echos, these are known to go dead often. if you are getting them in the same area, this is probably the case and you should contact verizon.

Its definately a CDMA Verizon issue and not the phone. If anything it got so much better with my A530 compared to my previous Moto T720.

    its called a sidetone eliminator....

Many cell towers have them now, but on older systems, they are not in use. They solve the following problem...

When you speak on a normal phone(land line), your voice is transmited to your earpiece, as well as the other person's. This is known as full duplex. This causes problems on a cellphone because there is a short delay in the signal as it is digitized and transmited to your ear. so you hear your voice at your phone, and then you hear it again after it has been transmited to the land line system.

I think there may be a good article on this at "howstuffworks.com"

Thanks everyone! I feel much more peaceful knowing that it's not the phone! I am still bummed about the way A530 has the battery next to the antenna though..I wonder if that will interfere with reception in the future, with the constant contact each time I change the battery. Hopefully, that won't have anything to do with echo, maybe only static?!?! Should I worry?
