Hey guys, new here! I recently got my hands on on a Motorola Ming A1200 and i think ive been had. I bought it for 160 bucks and the seller said that the only problem with it was the battery, it wouldn't hold a charge. I bought the phone and a new BT5 battery, plugged it in and sure enough it wont hold a charge! The phone wont respond to any of my inputs, only responding in beeps but not actually doing anything. The phone wont recognize my sim card and the battery symbol has a slash though it and it keeps flashing. Also, ive had it charging since about noon today and my sister tells me it kept turning off and on all day. Please tell me theres a solution to this! or if not any suggestions? thanks a lot guys! edit: also my carrier is T-Mobile if that helps...
Update: The camera works but wont store anything, it says memory is full. The lock button on the side also works. All the other button still only give me a beep in response to my inputs...
Sounds like there are more problems than just a bad battery. Try contacting the seller as it sounds like the item was misrepresented. If they are unwilling to help you contact PayPal and get your charges reversed. This will get the seller's attention. -Jay
Sounds like the phone may have received water damage. What color is the moisture indicator on the phone? If the dot is red then the phone did receive water damage and won't work. If paypal won't help you could go through your credit card company if that is the form of payment that you used.
thanks guys, the water mark is still white. Im gonna go to a repair shop today to see what they say, then i will contact the seller again. Thanks again!
so theres no hope, the guy said somethings wrong with the charging and he thinks somethings wrong with the software as well. I just emailed the guy who sold it to me asking for a refund. I hope he voluntarily agrees but i payed through paypal so it should, at worst, only be a small hassle. Thanks everyone for your help. Now who wants a BT50 battery? six bucks shipped?
The battery wouldn't work for me, but I hope this issue gets resolved for you soon. And as Jay has said, let us know how you make out.
So the guy is refusing to refund my money. I gave him a second chance but doenst look like hes gonna take it. I guess im gonna have to file a claim...
so the guy refused to refund my money and paypal denied my claim. I sent the phone out to repair but not sure what the outcome may be. I feel and ! On the bright side, this guy sold phones all the time that forum and he got banned for life by the administrators. Imagine all the phones he could have sold if he just refunded my money!! :loony:
That's why I always change it to CC. Their default is checking. I would at least talk to your bank and see if there is anything they can do. (Another reason to be on a first name basis with your banker!) For just about my entire life (since I was 5) I have held a first name realtionship with the banks I do business with. It sure helps when in a jam like this. -Jay
ill stop into my bank to see if perhaps they will have some sympathy for a broke 19 year old college student...
You may be able to get your bank to do a charge back for you, although some banks do charge $25.00 for this service.
I had a simular problem with a Motorola I-1000+ the phone was 6 years old and still had the orignal battery. Got lucky and found a dealer with a brand new battery. Still would not hold a charge. come to find out a couple of the connectors at the bottom of the phone were broke (after several years of dropping the darn thing) anyway since two of the pins were broke, the charger could not charge the battery.
I called my bank, TCF, and they said they cant do anything about it and to talk to paypal. So now im out 160 bucks and have a broken phone. I sent it in to repair but they estimated me at $120! i could buy a new one for that!
Sorry to hear about this. I thought for sure the bank would have worked with you to resolve this issue.
Just so I can vent on a somewhat related note: I just bought a 554/2554 hybrid phone on Ebay last week that was advertised as "Retro Yellow". I just go the phone yesterday and it isn't yellow, its a sunfaded ivory color phone. I emailed the seller and he hasn't responded yet. I'm just glad the bidding didn't go up to my $40 max bid. I got it for $15 and some change + shipping. If I had known it was sunfaded I would have only bid $2 or $3 for the parts. -Jay
Paypals real good with this IF!!!!!!! you buy through EBAY. You should have no problem if the seller refuses to exchange or refund.
