If you could eat only one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be? For me it would be Italian... it's totally the comfort food from when I was little, ziti al forno and pasta aglio olio and pebronata and braciole alla salentina... We were at a Greek restaurant for dinner tonight and my coworker said she could eat Greek food every night for the rest of her life and never get sick of it.
I'll go one better and say that I could eat cheeseburgers for the rest of my life. So early, but I want a bacon and bleu gourmet burger from Max & Ermas.
It would also be Italian for me. BTW, isn't pasta aglio olio pasta with olive oil and garlic and peppercorn on it, or am I mistaken?
How about a steak from Peter Luger's every day for the rest of your life? Along with the creamed spinach and german fried potatoes. Mmmmm
Pasta aglio olio is pasta tossed with garlic and olive oil... never had peppercorns in it. Usually, though, you put a bunch of stuff ("guarnischi") in it... whatever's lying around, dried tomatoes, asparagus, salami, cheese, carciofi, whatever.
Making me jealous, but it would be quite a drive for me. I'll have to settle for Morton's or Hyde Park... I used to always get the "Bernie Kosar" Nice steak with a lobster topping and bordelaise sauce. Mmmmmm
I would also go with Italian. Pizza is Italian and I could never get sick of Pizza, even when I worked as a Pizza maker for 3 1/2 years. But I have a question of form, is taco Pizza considered Mexican or Italian? If it's considered Mexican, no big loss I guess. (Zaph, where did you come up with the idea for this question?)
Tough call...Italian probably. I travel to North Carolina a lot, the BBQ is the best in the country...you gotta love pork.
No way. Carolina barbecue is WAY better than KC. People in KC eat that disgusting gloppy burnt molassesy crap on their barbecue. Proper BBQ sauce has vinegar in it. Nope, if you're barbecuing a hunk of pork, it oughta be from Carolina. Beef hunks ought to come from Texas.
Mediterannian... I love that whole Italian/Israeli/Sicilian taste. And there's a lot of variety that I can live off of. Other choices would be American, then Japenese.
Well, whatever, I guess it's a matter of opinion. Let me just say that Kansas City invented BBQ and Jazz... you're welcome. Yes, you're right. I should have said Mediterannian instead of just limiting myself to Italian... I love Israeli cooking and don't forget about Greek... mmmmm, Greek cooking is the best.
I believe he thinks he is an awkward moderator hamhanded=awkward with people Oligarch=ruler of an politcial system ruled by a few.
Try it sliced, chopped, coa rse chopped, or outside chopped, or pulled...on a sandwich or on a plate. North Carolina BBQ...is the way to go...beef or pork...or on a good day both on the same plate. The Triad area of NC is the Best......at least the BBQ is.
Mmmm, Ethiopian food. The first time I went to an Ethiopian restaurant, my coworker Carol joked, "I can't wait to try the deep-fried air and mud patties!" It is really excellent food, though... and giving gursha makes a regular meal into something special. Gursha, for those who don't know, which is probably most of you, is the act by which you feed your dining partner. Traditionally, Ethiopian food is served on a special colourful basketwork table called a messob. The messob is covered with injera, which is a sour flat bread, and portions of various stews and dishes are ladled out onto the injera. You wash your hands in water perfumed with flowers, and then you tear off bits of injera, pick up some stew, roll it, and put it into your dining partner's mouth. It's meant to play up the emotions as well as feed the person. Damn you Matt, now I have to go down to Fairfax and get Ethiopian food when my wife gets home.
