A few pictures of a Ferrari Enzo I saw in London a few weeks back. I wasn't sure exactly what it was (I'm not a Ferrari expert like Charlyee), but then I found a few articles when I got home. As you can see, it got a lot of interest from other passers by as well. The Rolls parked behind it was ignored. Road and Track calls it not only "the greatest Ferrari ever" but "the most capable sports car we've ever tested". Enjoy.
Wow Steve, beautiful pictures, thanks so much for posting them. I am nowhere near being a Ferrari expert, I just go crazy everytime I see the Prancing Horse. Something interesting about the Enzo is that there were only around 400 made when one of them crashed in Malibu. The owner claimed they were racing a SLR and was only travelling at 100 mph. The Enzo has been compared very often to the SLR, another car I go crazy over and is infact my profile picture . Ok back to the Enzo, what a beauty isn't it ?
Now that would ruin your day, to wreck one of those, even if you weren't hurt. Since there were so few made, its hard to estimate what one is worth, but I've seen numbers between $600,000 and $1 million. "List price" is roughly $643,000 according to Road and Track. SW
Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: LG-CU500 Obigo/WAP2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0) Nice car.
It definitely would ruin my day, that's why I didn't get one - yeah right . The list price of $643,000 makes my dream SLR even affordable (NOT). There is a new SLR for a mere $485,000 available locally. So Steve did you always read the Road & Track or did the Enzo drive you to it? PS: Did any one watch the Amazing Factories, (I know wirles did) when they showed the Ferrari 599. The V12 engine built by hand - fantastic.
 Wow. Thanks for the pics, SteveW! That's an impressive car for sure. I prefer the 599 GTB, myself, but if someone gave me an Enzo, I don't think I'd complain! You may not be able to afford an Enzo or an SLR but I'll bet you could pick up a Porsche Cayman S or something more "professional" like a BMW M5. They may not have the drop dead gorgeous looks of a Ferarri or McLaren but they've got what counts, muscle under the hood! EDIT: The SLKs look similar to the SLR and the SLK280 costs 1/10 as much, that's another alternative. Of course, if you're going for the SLK55 AMG, you'll be paying just south of $70,000.
Interesting you brought the SLK55 AMG up, I have been eying that for about an year, it has the "drop dead gorgeous look" AND the muscle under the hood. The dealer that has the McLaren also has the 55. PS: Btw: Porsche yes, but somehow I have never wanted a BMW, professional looking or otherwise.
Me, either. There are some older ones I like but I don't think I'd ever own a Bimmer from the last 20 years. (Not that this is a problem since I can't afford one, anyway.)
I used to read both Motor Trend and Road and Track, but that was years ago. My Dad had a subscription to Motor Trend for a long time, while I was growing up. I rarely buy them these days and only found that article because I googled the Enzo. While we're on the subject of personal history, I remember making a point of visiting the car dealers in my little town each September, when the brochures for the new models would come out. I started doing this when I was probably 11 or 12, and did it for years. I would ride to them on my bike and take one of each brochure. None of the dealers ever said anything to me. I guess they thought it was fine to indulge a future customer. Not that we are talking about anything as exotic as a Ferrari - these were Fords and Chevys - and not that I ever went back to buy anything - by the time I could afford a car, I was long gone.
Nice pics Steve thanks for sharing, and all you have to do is take a look at his car and you will understand why the Rolls was ignored.IMHO the Rolls never impressed me and is not a work of art like a Ferrari. From what I understand there were only 500 of these made and now there are only 499 left. It was on the news awhile back that one was wrecked I forgot who it was driving it but I think it was in California.
BMW builds great cars, but the people that drive them are, in general, not anybody I'd like to be associated with (I'm sure any BMW-owning WA members are the exceptions to this rule :lmao. The Porsche 911 and its descendants (particularly the modern Carrera 4) remains one of my dream cars. This is the dream where I have a 4-car garage, a car for daily use and a Porsche for Sunday drives when the weather is nice. SW
I'll get some interior pics for you guys in a few weeks. A co-workers son is the lead mechanic at Ferrari of Washington and the owner has an Enzo that he actually drives on I-66 in Northern VA rush hour I have sat in it twice. I will see if he will put it into the virtual showroom and let me take some 360 degree video capture. They have a studio/showroom that they pull cars into for out of town customers. You can log in via the web, and control pan/tilt/zoom from your desktop. The resolution is so good you can see the grain of the the leather. BTW: He also has a really sweet 360GT Berlinetta. I am not sure if Allie Ash if the sole owner or a partner in Ferrari of Washnington Racing Team. Allie has owned some incredibly rare machines.
I would go for an SL55 before the SLK55. The SLK350 has a lot more muscle than the 280, but I jsut don't like that body style. I do like the CLK, and a CLK63 would be fun.
You and I have to disagree on this, I like the body styling of the SLK55 over the SL55. Atleast with the SLK55 I could pretend it is the SLR Yes please do post the pictures, I am so jealous that you actually know someone like that.
Weirdness is right. I looked through these links. Apparently, extreme wealth and conspicuous consumption isn't enough for some people. In addition, they need to steal things, race their expensive toys (and occasionally destroy them) and break all kinds of laws just to keep life interesting. I don't travel in those circles, for sure. SW
Thanks for sharing the pictures Steve. A few weeks ago, I spotted a Ferrari 360 when I was going up to school. About a month ago, I spotted a Maybach on I-75 when I was heading south to go home after class. I do not know if the version was a 57 or 62, but it looked like it had a DC plate.
There are two Maybach's that I see regularly around here...one is owned by Dan Snyder (jack-off owner of the Skins) and Syed Jaffery of Wingate Capital SA. I understand Syed has two of them :browani: My office is next to the Ritz Carlton in McLean, VA so there is always some VIP in the mix. The other day, there must have been an administration big wig there for lunch, because I was watching a security guard argue with Secret Service about an illegally parked Suburban (you know, black with lights and antennas).
So a while back we were talking about the Ferrari Enzo, crashed and otherwise. Here's an article with link to a video of one crashing. :crying: And the narrated video. (Some browser popup blockers will block this but it's on the main CNN page at the moment). Parental Advisory: This video is not suitable for squeamish exotic car lovers. It contains scenes of graphic violence to a Ferrari Enzo. No actors were hurt in the making of this video. SW
Yeah, I read somewhere that it might just be a publicity stunt. If its proven it is, Im sure Ferrari will not be selling to the producer of the movie/owner of the car anymore.
