I agree...I'm really enjoying the camera option also...I've been sending pictures all day to my email adress..

I'm not quite sure I agree about the speaker...My freind has a 9500,and I think thats a better speaker..as well as teh 8600 I tried in the store last night...

Lets face it, the reason why this phone has any merit is because VZW doesnt give you much to choose from. Compare it to the GSM and Sprint phones and it will loose by miles. With that said, it probably is one of the better VZW phones for the time being. I'm not ready to give up my V60 and extend my contract for this though.

If you look at the post I made imediatly before you made that one you will see that at the end i qualified my opinion of the phone.

"I STILL SAY IT IS THE BEST VZW PHONE OUT RIGHT NOW AND TOP 3 ALL TIME.

Any phone that has beter RF than the v60, has good sound quality, has very good speaker volume, has an intuitive and very easy to use menuing system and phonebook, and has some good extra's.......has to be in the top 3 all time."

When it comes to the important stuff, the stuff you realy use your phone for..this phone is one of the best I have ever used.....period.

Well, I guess my question is, and I would like a bunch of responses, is which phone is better.....the lg vx6000 or our beloved audiovox cdm8900? I really like audiovox but let's be honest, does audiovox have a good reputation when it comes to phones?

1.) I really don't think it is a bad color . It is an off white, off grey, off baby blue color on my phone and mine does not get duller as it looses charge. It was quite isible in the car on the road at midnight last night while th batery indicator was flashing prior to it dying.

2.) The ONLY phones with acceptable speaker phones (speaker phones i would use in a car) are the v60p, the Nextel handsets, and a few other special cases. It is loud enough to be usefull everywere that i use it (Ie the office, my house, etc.). In my mind it is ok but not great, if i had wanted a great speaker phone and had to have it i would have gotten a v60p.

3.) WOW, the RF on mine has been nothing short of phenomianl. Like I said in an earlier post, any phone that works everywere in my basement is a great RF phone. In fact, I returned my LGvx4400b specificaly because in my mind the RF sucked. The places that are the worst for verizon in my house it would go in and out off service. My 8900 has refused to let go of signal. In fact at the Broadway Junction trainstation for the A, C in brrokly platform it reaquired signal halfway down theplatform after loosing it a quater way down the platform. It also reaquired signal underground on the A line which I have NEVER seen before. At least not below 14trh street.

4.)Ummm...yeah your sprint and tmobile camera phones have a better camera...But i can talk underground, on the sea, in the Mountains, AND IN THE BASEMENT OF MY HOUSE. (sorry, venting.) Seriously, the camera is a toy....and i will buy the flash kit soon anyway. Also, the SCREEN o the vx6000 has 4 times the colors but the camera in my opinion still looks sharper on mine.

5.) The Ringtones on this phone Do rock.

I stand by my buy recomendation.

NYCdru, do you have verizon with your 8900? If so does it come with pacman? I've heard from someone, can't remember who, that it doesn't? Have you played with or know anyone who has the LG vx6000? If so how do the two compare? I'm so glad verizon finally has some competition between their camera phones. Besides, sprint and tmobile may have better camera phones but VZW has the abilty to make phones super phones. YAY VZW. Shout out to the SOUTH!!!! holla. Also to add, I'm not all that interested in perfomance too much of the phone as far as data cables, internet and all that stuff. I want a nice looking phone, with an emphasis on nice(I'm a stylish kind of person), good battery life, reception so I won't drop phone calls, and nice ring tones. Tell me which phone is better, 6000 or 8900.

I hear the 9900 is coming from Audiovox. Is it going to be VZW and is that a good phone? Probably off topic but this is Audiovoz.

the Audiovox 9900 will be carried by Verizon, now as far as the phone being a good performer, that's hard to say because it's not out yet.

Alright, I guess I will state the question again to keep it fresh. Which phone is better, the 8900 or the vx6000? For the VZW version of the 8900 does it come with pac man? Not that its important to me, just kinda curious. SOUTH roll deep, reppin the South.

No pac man on mine.....And I verified that with verizon tech...

I'm slowly getting used to the phone...there are diferrent ways to get to the same place(ex..loading a pix message)..

as far as the RF?.....I haven't dropped a call yet.....and rt 17 in Paramus NJ is tough on phones..

My real issue is with the owners manual...it tells you step by step things..but doesn't explain why(or how) things work together on the phone...that requires a little experimenting..

    here's a quick question....

in the front of the manual it says to fully discharge the battery before charging(takes one to four days)...and in another place it says to make sure you charge the battery when you see a low warning otherwise you can damage the memory....

I take it its not good to top off the battery every night?.....

I cant see why not.....We use lithum batterys in RC...they can be repeaked any time..and have no memory...

No Pac Man on the 8900 unfortunately. If you need analog EVER the 8900 has it, the vx6000 doesn,t so be carefull.

yeah but for now my feeling is 'better safe than sorry' I dont understand why you wouldnt want the backup of analog; its not like you are paying more for it. So in my opinion you I still want it just in case. While Verizon will be all digital 'soon' for now I feel better knowing that my phone has the capability to work in places that the VX6000 (and other all-digital phones) cannot.

Dru -- Is the outer LCD screen similar to the 8600 (im mainly just asking about the backlight)? I have heard complaints that the backlight is not bright enough (for both the 8900 and the 8600) I actually prefer the brightness of the 8600's to other phones I have had because you can actually turn on the backlight in dark places (i.e. movie theaters) and not worry about blinding everyone around you!

I think that is is hysterical that everyone is least interested in the quality of the PHONE itself. I traded back two LG 6000s because of constant complaints when talking on the headset/earbud. I had three different earbuds, LGs, Plantronics, & Nokias, and EVERYONE gripped about the low volume, feedback, and cutting out on the LG. The 8900 has gotten perfect grades from the same people.

Whatever issues there are otherwise, are second to me. There is no doubt that I could not live with the LG 6000 for two years if I cant use the earbud. Who cares about picture quality between the two phones - they are both quite inferior to any digital camera on the market.

True, and that's because their main purpose is to be a cellphone, not a digital camera.

Havent posted in a while...pc trouble.
I went to the store and came home with the 8900. Boy do I LOVE this phone. I got a TON of free rings on it. The voice quality is great. My dad also got one and when he called my house from his convertablie with the top open...it sounded perfect. The earpiece is great and has a sort of warm feeling to it. The phone fit perfect on my face. The backlight is fine on the outside an inside display.
As far as comparing to the VX6000, my Audiovox gets 2 bars of signal where the LG got 0 and had to go into extended network. I thought that was pretty amazing. The guy at the store told me that the guys who test the towers and signal over Florida all use audiovox phones because they get the most precise and good signal. Bottom line is this is a greaaatt phone.
P.S. The speakerphone is not that loud but it works and its at least useable.
