Interesting, I've seen the N80 being called the Nokia 6282, it must be the same phone.

I can't find that Nokia number, 6282, anywhere. Your OP links were dead too.

I think the N80 is meant for the end of this year.

    Shoreguy,

I think the 6282 is a triband GSM, no 850 Mhz.

True but it has UMTS 1900/2100, if it really exists, then it would be the 2nd handset which works on UMTS 1900/2100.

Hmmm the 2 handsets look similar to say the least. I find it interesting that Nokia plans on releasing 2 handsets which are able to both the US and Eurasian UMTS bands.

The 1900 WCDMA version of this phone got FCC approval:

    http://www.symplification.com/node/363

As the article mentions the N80 pictured has a Cingular logo...hmm I wonder if that means that Cingular is planning to mess up the N80 also just like they did the 6682 with their proprietary software.

Talking about messing up, my unbranded 6682 has higher data speed and better reception yet than my Cingular branded one.

Nope. Phones are so complicated today, you gotta read the fine print.

The 6280 is a euro tri + UMTS, the N80 is a Quad + UMTS. On your link above, on the right hand side is a link to the N80.

    Otherwise it looks the same.

Wait... what? I am confused right now... what are you looking for?

The 6282 is the US version of the 6280. The N80 is the N80 and the N80 only.

    December 01, 2005

Nokia 6282 phone combines 1 megapixel camera, QVGA display, and sleek slide design with 3G technology

In addition to enabling 3G services, the new Nokia 6282 phone features a 2.2 inch, 320x240 pixel QVGA display, a 1 megapixel camera, FM radio, digital music player with hot-swappable miniSD card support, Bluetooth technology and an eye-catching sliding design. The Nokia 6282 phone (GSM 850/1900/1800/UMTS 1900 MHz) is expected to be available during the first quarter of 2006 in markets offering 1900MHz UMTS service.

It's still not listed on Nokia.com or NokiaUSA.com though. Normally, Nokia puts up the model pages once it's publicized.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the website says that you will be able to connect to your home networks thru the routers. That is awesome and will not make Linksys and D-Link real happy!

That is exactly what the website says but I also read a preliminary manual and it was referencing the WLan for picture transfer etc., so I don't know if it will truly be accessing the web through the wireless router. I guess we have to wait to find that out.

Ok Steve, I am offering some gossip:

According to Symplication , "The inclusion of the fact that the device will carry "WLAN" is interesting, because of the lack of such a description in the N80-3's test report. It's probably not really important, but perhaps Nokia refused to disable the WLAN functionality for Cingular (similar to how the WLAN is available in the HTC Tornado but disabled in Cingular's 2125) - and so the phone went from being listed on Cingular internal servers to ship from 21st Jan, to being cancelled."

So if this true and Cingular has cancelled it then we will all end up buying the Euro version with the 2100 UMTS instead of the Cingular one with 1900 WCDMA, which is probably going to be a moot point for the near future, atleast for me. Translated that means I am getting it no matter what. :D

Also I have heard Feb 06 as being available on the Nokia site.
