I recently got the FutureDial wire and started to download MIDI's from www.mididb.com and cut them down with AnvilStudios, however the volumes of these ringers are very very low... how can i raise them up?

You should be able to do that with Anvil Studios, actually. You may have to change the volume for each midi voice individually.

I used AnvilStudio for a bit and was not very satisfied with the results that I got when I truncated the file and adjusted the channel volumes. A friend of mine gave me a copy of Cakewalk SONAR 2.0 and that works wonders. It allows me to adjust each channels volume and velocity (which I noticed affects the ringer volume almost as much as the actual channel volume). So, if you can get your hands on that program, then you will have the most powerful tool available for modifying your tones. Also, I read in the bitpim release notes that a future feature will be the ability to adjust volume of the ringtones. And who knows, maybe version 06 or 07 of the new OS software will fix the volume problem as well.

Actually v04 of the phone software has the loudest downloaded ringers. Most people complained that they were too loud. So v05 reduced the overall volume of downloaded ringers. v06 is already out and does not have any updates to ringer volumes.

matstars- what version software are you on? If you're on v04, then it's definitely the midi files themselves that need to be adjusted. If you are on 05 or 06, it could be the software making the ringers more quiet....I personally don't play with ringers that much though...

Personally, I can't wait till Bitpim allows the ringer volume feature to be used. I have my ringer volume to the max and you definately can't hear the phone in a semi-noisy place (Mall, car with stereo on, etc).

That's exactly why I haven't updated to the new software. My phone has v4 and I haven't had any problems, so I'm leaving it alone. I spent the last two years with a phone that rang too quietly (Audiovox CDM-135) and I don't want to deal with that again. Overall it was a good phone, but what good is a cellphone that you can't hear ring? My VX4400 rings nice and loud....I like that.

Unfortunately, I had no choice in what version I had on my phone. It came from the warehouse with v.5 on it. Although, i thought that would have been a good thing.

Anything out there that just is a simple click and raise the volume kinda program? I honestly dont feel inclined enough to mess with each "voice" and crap. I just want to raise the volume 5-10dcbs.

Animatrixed I got a copy of cakewalk sonar 2.0. its an amazing program. However the part that says increase 3db, normalize, and derease 3db, is not highlited. I was wondering if you knew what I was doing wrong?

That's because these options only apply to a .wav file, not to a MIDI file, which is what the ringers are. In order to change the volume of the notes, go into Piano Roll Mode, select all the notes, and choose the option Edit|Scale Velocity. You can either change it to a percentage or a value. 127 is maximum volume for a MIDI note so if you change them all to 127 it will be as loud as it can be.

I've also noticed after studying some other ringers in Sonar that some of the commercially available ones increase the volume by duplicating the track and having both play simultaneously. I think this seems to work better than maxing out the velocities.
