Hello, I just got the 3589i.

When the phone is not used for about 10 secs. or so the screen gets dark.

Is there a way to change that so that the background light stays on? It is so dark that I can' see the signal or battery levels.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I have a 3589 and am very happy with it, but I understand what you are saying. There is no way to keep the light on. What I do, when I want to see my battery meter, etc., is to hit the end call key, and the screen lights up.

Keeping the light on would decrease the battery charge intervals substantially.

Thanks for the reply and I understand what you are saying about the battery. I had an older Nokia and would leave the keypad locked most of the time. I plan on doing the same with this one, so hitting any key does not turn the light on.

    Thanks again,

    Steve

I also have this phone and keep my keylock on. Even with the keylock on my phone will light up when the battery strength goes down a one bar.

Honestly though I don't worry about it too much...even with 1 bar or 2 of reception on mine sometimes...this phone is great regardless of signal.

    :D
