3 CO-LOCATOR TOWERS OK'D IN ALDEN,NY 3 CO-LOCATOR TOWERS OK'D IN ALDEN,NY Tuesday April 16 12:00am The Buffalo News The Alden Town Board on Monday voted to allow General Dynamics to build three 237-foot co-locator towers at the existing Sprint cell tower on Sandridge Road. The approval came for the latest in a series of requests to construct additional towers in the town. The Sprint tower located between 1450 and 1460 Sandridge Road is becoming quite popular, and the Town Board also held a public hearing for Voicestream Wireless to install an additional 228-foot co-locator tower for a telecommunications facility at the location. Since the proposal drew no public comment, the board is likely to approve the Voicestream tower at its next meeting, May 6. While he concedes that too many cell towers can become unsightly, acting Supervisor Michael Cole said the town code forces cellular companies to look at adding to existing towers before considering other options, essentially keeping the towers in one place. "This application is at least consistent with that hope," Cole said. The board also scheduled a May 6 public hearing for another cellular company, Wireless Solutions, which is seeking to install a 150-foot tower near the fire station at 13336 Broadway. Good news for Sprint..Larry
