2 things I expected to see in the roaming zone but didn't. The safe landing of the space shuttle this morning. The death of Peter Jennings.
I get my news from the internet. My TV viewing is limited to Southpark, and Friday nights I tape the Sci-Fi channel and watch that when I have time throughout the week. (That's right - no Tivo) My VCR is already paid for... LOL
Um....it was on the front pages of all the news sites? And it was webcast and archived. (The landing I mean.)
I knew about the shuttle, but I didn't find out about Peter Jennings until I heard it on the radio last night.
I for one was really upset by the death of Peter Jennings. I think the departure of all those old school news casters is a bad thing for media. With the advent of cable news networks, the internet, media "bias" etc. people don't look to newscasters for trusted coverage and comfort the way they used to. So much of the news now is "spin" not reporting. We could use more Jennings, Brokaws and Rathers out there! An interesting fact I read was that while overall viewership of major network news is down over the past five years (with CNN, Fox, online news, etc gaining), during times of crisis, the networks have a commanding lead in ratings as people turn back to them for up to the minute coverage...
