I just replaced my 17p version today, and I got the 19c version. I was extremely pleased with the speed of the menus, and the pictures and fonts looked a lot cripser too. I was so happy.....until I got home and had to charge it. The initial charge got me about 5 minutes of talk time before the "battery low" came up, so I got plugged it in....and, it shut itself off....so I unplugged it, turned it back on, and tried it again. It shut itself off again. I can turn it on if it's already plugged in; it's just going to suck when I'm on a call and actually need to plug it in because it hogs all the battery life. Anyone else have this problem with version 19c???
i just got my 17p swapped with the 19c version today! i've noticed plenty of improvements: faster menu response, vivid and crisp contrast, callers do sound louder, more games in get it now, and no more freezes and glitches so far. you know it's always like me to always want the latest and greatest and i should have known first releases are more than likely to have some bugs to be ironed out. other than that, i love this phone!
Well I can honestly say that the T720 had everything to complain about and i brought it back. Everything was completely and utterly useless. I really like the little thing but to tell you the truth even with International Warranty Motorola were 'selohssa' (read the word backwards) at fixing the faults or replacing it after 3 days of purchasing. Very unreasonable. Terrible, really really gutted. I have now just got the C330 which is the new motorola range and its quite a sweet phone. To tell you the truth the volume on this little number is definitely better than the T720. And thats saying something!
There is a setting in the phone that you can change that deals with charging and on/off. I stumbled on it while using the handsfree kit in the car. It is probably that setting that keeps the phone from staying on. I can't give you the exact spot, but look in settings menu and follow the links.
I think these settings have to do with the car kit, and can be found in the T720 manual p.137-138. The option you're talking about is under Menu-Settings-Car Settings-ChargerTime/Power Off Delay. Dunno if this is relevant to the original problem tho.
Hi. I definitely need help. Just purchased two T720s a week ago. Can someone please explain what 17P and 19C are (software versions? actual phones?) and how I find out which I have? And what is flashing/flash in relation to this? Oh, and can anyone explain why I'm getting notification for a text message along with each voicemail notification? Truthfully, I am really enjoying this little phone. Thanks for your help.
17P and 19c are software levels of your T720. Your hardware is the same as long as you got both T720's from the same carrier (Verizon). To determine your software level, go to Settings, Phone Status, Other Information, S/W Version. The last set of digits indicate the rev level. (i.e. 1.2.22.19C means that your software level is 19C) Flashing is a way to upgrade the software on your phone's chipsets without changing the hardware. In other words, you won't have to purchase a new phone just to get the latest software, which may address the bug you appear to have with your excessive notifications. I would take it back to the dealer if your software level is anything below 19C.
Back to the title "19c T720 is still pissing me off!!!".... ...me too! Overall, I do have to say, I am happy with the phone. But I am one of the people that paid full retail for the phone. And I really don't feel that I have gotten my money worth. I have exchanged the phone several times, because with every phone, there is a slightly different problem. And I keep hoping I am going to find a phone that will not have any of the glitches. I originally had a 17p, and swapped it for a 19c. Since then... -one phone still would go blank in the middle of using it, come up saying NO SERVICE, and then go to full strength -one phone overheated while on the charger and stopped working propertly until it cooled down -one phone keeps going into roaming and/or analog mode when it should be in local digital mode (one time was at a verizon store while I waited to exchange the phone) -one phone I had to do the swap to get the free battery -my latest has the analog/roaming problem. None of the stores by me seem to have the capability to move my phonelist over (which is OK, because I do have the cable and software at home). Nonoe of the stores by me seem to know about the 19D software, which I realize is no different than the 19c, but I just get a kick out of the fact they don't even know it exists. This is all getting a bit tiresome. I just want a phone that works. And making phone calls is what a phone should do. This analog/roaming problem right now is my biggest beef with the phone.
Thanks. That was such a great help. I found that I do have 19C, so I don't have to worry about an upgrade right now. Would you mind answering one more question, though? How do I find out about new upgrades when they emerge? Thanks again, and have a safe, healthy, happy New Year.
No prob - so far it appears by reading this forum that Verizon sends a text message to users that need upgrades. Whether this was just a one time deal or if that's how they will handle all future upgrades remains to be seen since the phone is so new. Continuing to check this forum is the best thing to do.
I totally agree with Brewmaster. Forums like these are the best source for information. You can try calling Verizon every so often, or stop by a store and see what the latest scoop is, but that is a hit and miss. Most of the reps don't seem to know about the latest out there. Reading this forum, I have found out a lot more than I ever did by asking at the stores. A note on the text message thing...this isn't how Verizon usually does it. They also sent out a postcard telling people about the upgrade available. I think they just did that because they knew they goofed by releasing the phone with the original software.
The funny thing about this text messaging is that the message (with no actual message attached) is from the person who called and left me a voicemail. It's like a double notification, and I can't understand it. I do have 19c, and without this forum, I'd have no idea it even existed. I'm grateful to everyone for their input, and plan to keep watching. Thanks, all.
