Hi I just recently purchase a international unlocked phone that doesn't support 850 for cingular, was wondering if anyone had any experience with zip 30269 as far as frequencys go. Im really hoping I didnt screw myself out of coverage by limiting myself to 1900 freq. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Well 850mhz is used a lot in the US. But their still is a lot of 1900mhz in the cities and suburbs, but once you go into more rural areas you will find dead spots (because rural carriers tend to use 850mhz) If I were you I would have gotten a phone that supports 850, just because it will give you a lot better coverage and more roaming abilities in rural areas.

I'm pretty sure Cingular is 1900Mhz only in GA, NC, SC & VA so you should be ok(at home at least)

I think they are 850 & 1900 in GA, and do think the OP will find coverage problems with the phone, not just outside the cities, but in some buildings as well depending on the buildout of the towers.

The Fayette County side is mixed 850/1900; the Coweta County side is 1900 only. 1900-only phones work OK on Cingular in the immediate Atlanta area, but don't work well at all outside of it.

    BOTTOM LINE

    Don't buy a handset without 850.

The surrounding area's of Atlanta have signal issues anyways, once you get off the interstate, let's not mention that big gaping hole near Dublin, GA.

Thats the problem with Sprint in this area, as they're coverage is only up to 2 miles in rural areas.

A Tri-Band or Quad-Band phone is the way to go!!

Cingular has been expanding coverage in rural areas lately. Hopefully Sprint & T-mobile do the same, ASAP
