Is anyone offering these now? T-mobile did and I just found out if I want to upgrade my phone I will have to sign a 2 year contract. Only reason I used t-mobile was because of its 1 year contract.
For T-Mobile their web site says: ‡ For a 1-year contract, call 1-877-387-4324 or visit one of our T-Mobile stores. That really bites!
Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: Nokia6682/2.0 (3.01.1) SymbianOS/8.0 Series60/2.6 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0) I personally think contracts are the work of the man down below.
What T-Mobile is now doing is offering different price structures when you upgrade your phone, which means that you get the "best" price when renewing for 2 years, otherwise you get modest savings (instead of the best price) when you renew for 1 year. I agree that it sucks, but sadly, this is their new policy..
T-Mobile still offers one year contracts. However, you won't get as much of a break on a phone if you opt for a one year contract.
T-Mobile will not honor a 1 year contract. I tried to get one and the answer is no. I have a samsung 225 phone and it sucks. Lousy in my house, calls dropped constantly in my home area. If I use it the battery doesn't last too long, good on standby though.:loony: I have 3 phones on a family plan, reasonable price.....but we all hate no service and the phones.
You need to ask again. They most certainly do offer one year contracts but you get less of a subsidy. If you indeed hate the service and the "phones" you shouldn't have signed up for service now should you? It's not as if they didn't have a trial period where you could cancel service without a penalty.
Most companies offer 1 year options if you push hard enough. Usually they will jack up the price of equipment so much that it isn't worthwhile. As long as you are happy with the service that a company offers, just make sure they give you a resonable handset upgrade program, say every 18 months or so. It's still possible to go one year, but rarely is it cost effective.
I really think contracts are evil anyway, but at least if you're with a company that generally performs up to your expectations I don't mind so much of being tied to it. If I didn't get the service I thought I should be getting I'm sure I'd feel a lot differently.
You can get a 1-year contract with Cingular, but not from the website. You have to order by phone, or go to a corporate store. The phone prices will also be higher. You can even get service without a contract at a corporate store, if you have a compatable or unlocked phone, or want to pay full-price for one, although the plan would not include free mobile-to-mobile.
If you logon to the VerizonWieless website and pick a phone through the personal or family options, you will be ask if you want a 1yr or 2yr contract.
Alltel will also let you choose when ordering between a 1 or 2 year contract. I believe you can sign up with no contract but you have to pay full price for the phone. Also the 1 year contract doesn't offer much savings on the cost of the phone.
I just noticed that on the Alltel website not too long ago, before I signed up with them, that they were now offering 1 year contracts. Some phones are discounted more than others with the 1 yr contract. I considered going with the one year contract but I decided to hope that my phone lasted 2 yrs instead. But what I really liked about them is that you can change your plan and options over the 1 or 2 years that you agree to stay with them. You're just basically agreeing to some type of plan as long as it's through Alltel. I liked this because I don't know if I'll need a national or local plan depending on how things go over the next couple years.
